*This boss is not in the Japanese version, but the enemy holding a Ball and Chain is named Guma in the Japanese version (not named in the English version). To differentiate between the enemies, fans in the Japanese community dub the western Gooma as the Jaianto (ジャイアント), the English word "Giant" written in katakana, although this is not official.
*This boss does not appear in the Japanese version of the game, with a second appearance of Jermafenser in its place.
* This enemy shares his name with a character in the original Paper Mario, a Goomba named Gooma, whose species has also appeared in LA.
*Gooma's artwork was intended for Gūma in the Japanese version of the game before localization.
