Swift Carrots are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Location and Uses
Breath of the Wild
Swift Carrots are one of three foodstuffs favored by the Sheikah race, with the others being Fortified Pumpkins and Mighty Bananas. They are primarily and exclusively cultivated by the Sheikah farmer Steen, who grows 14 in his field in Kakariko Village, and has 12 stocked at his wife Trissa's shop, suggesting he keeps two of each batch to eat himself. They may also be found at the foot of Satori Mountain, or behind the Horses at the Highland Stable. Beedle sells them at the East Akkala Stable, as will the Merchant Giro. Some may also be purchased from Cambo as he leaves Kakariko Village, implying he bought some from Trissa, however this does not reduce her stock.
Eating Swift Carrots raw will heal Link for half of a Hearts. Swift Carrots can also be used at the Kochi Dye Shop to create Orange Dye. Burning a Swift Carrot with Fire will turn it into a Roasted Swift Carrot. When cooked in a dish, the resulting food provides Link with temporarily superior speed.[1]
The Side Quest "Koko's Kitchen requires Link to gather a Swift Carrot for Koko so she can make hasty Veggie Cream Soup.[3][4] As a reward for delivery, Koko will give Link some of the soup she makes.[5]
When cooking in a Cooking Pot, either a Swift Carrot, Endura Carrot, or a Fortified Pumpkin is needed to make Veggie Cream Soup, Vegetable Risotto, and Vegetable Curry.
According to Steen's grandfather, Link exclusively ate and trained with Swift Carrots.[6]
Ten Swift Carrots are needed to upgrade both the Sand Boots and Snow Boots to their second tier at a Great Fairy Fountain.
