The Spirits of Good, as they are referred in Spirit Tracks, are never seen but often mentioned. Because they could not destroy Malladus, they locked him away in the dark realm. They created the Spirit Tracks and the Tower of Spirits to act as the shackles and lock, respectively.

The Lokomo are servants of these spirits. The Spirits entrusted the Lokomo to take care of the land due to their absence but they left the Lokomo with a number of tools to help with this burden, specifically the Spirit Train, the Bow of Light, and the Compass of Light.
