Life Gauge: Difference between revisions

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia
m
→‎Tears of the Kingdom: Have 38 heart containers, take a single heart of gloom damage, then eat a meal that grants 3 temporary hearts. As expected, that would be 38-1+3 = 40, but instead you have 39 hearts (37 red hearts, 2 yellow hearts, and 1 cracked heart). Thus your true maximum number of hearts with temporary hearts is actually 40 - NumberOfGloomHearts if you have taken any gloom damage.
("Gloom hearts" are an effect and cannot be added on top of regular hearts, so I don't think they would count toward the total. Besides, there's a whole other paragraph discussing the effects of Gloom on the Life Gauge.)

The Life Gauge remains mostly the same as {{BotW}}, although there are a few changes. During {{TotK}}'s introduction, {{Term|TotK|Link|link}} starts out with 30 {{Plural|TotK|Heart|link}}, but the {{Term|TotK|Life Gauge}} is reduced to three during "{{Term|TotK|The Awakening|link}}". By trading {{Plural|TotK|Light of Blessing|link}} with {{Plural|TotK|Goddess Statue|link}}, {{Term|TotK|Link}} can obtain a maximum of 40 {{Plural|BotW|Heart}}. This includes any temporary {{Plural|TotK|Heart}} added by eating certain {{Plural|TotK|Meal|link}}.

{{Term|TotK|Gloom|link}} is able to temporarily reduce the number of {{Plural|TotK|Heart}} in the {{Term|TotK|Life Gauge}} while {{Term|TotK|Link}} makes contact with it. This reduction is displayed as cracked gray {{Plural|BotW|Heart}}. Only whole {{Plural|TotK|Heart}} can be reduced. The {{Term|TotK|Life Gauge}} can be restored by eating "Sunny" {{Plural|TotK|Meal}}, being on the {{Term|TotK|Surface|link}}, or standing in the {{Term|TotK|Light|link}} of a {{Term|TotK|Lightroot|link}}.

If Link eats a meal that grants temporary hearts while having gloom hearts, then the maximum amount of health Link can have is 40 minus the number of gloom hearts.
