Ancient Short Swords are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name references needed]

Ancient Short Swords can be made by supplying the Ancient Oven at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab with 1,000 Rupees, 15 Ancient Springs, 5 Ancient Shafts, and 2 Ancient Cores.[2] Their blades are made using Ancient Technology, only appearing when the Weapons are drawn.[1] The cutting power of Ancient Short Swords is stronger than any metal swords.[1] They belong to the Ancient Soldier Gear equipment archetype, which includes all Weapons created by Robbie.[3]

The final Weapon that Nebb will ask Link to show him during "The Weapon Connoisseur" Side Quest is an Ancient Short Sword, which he claims are not common around Hateno Village.[4] If Link brings an Ancient Short Sword for Nebb to see, Nebb will become excited and give him a Diamond as a reward.[5][6]

Ancient Short Swords are made from Ancient Technology, and therefore they will deal a higher amount of damage against Guardian-type Enemies. They will not attract Lightning during Thunderstorms or conduct Electricity. However, they are capable of floating on Water, are unable to burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate, and cannot be manipulated with the Magnesis Rune.
