Cold Darners are recurring Creatures and Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Description
This dragonfly prefers the cool shade of trees to the warmth of the sun. Its wings disperse heat from its body, which can be cooked into a heat-resistance elixir.

Cold Darners can be found in cold regions of Hyrule, such as Hyrule Ridge and the Tabantha Frontier. They can also be purchased from traveling merchants, such as Maypin and Beedle at the Kara Kara Bazaar and Woodland Stable. When Cooked, Cold Darners can be made into Elixirs that provide Heat Resistance.[1] At the Kochi Dye Shop, Cold Darners can be used to make Blue Dye.

As part of the "Little Sister's Big Request" Side Quest, Link must ask Gleema what the insect she wants to see is. She will reveal that she once saw a dragonflies in a book and when she grows up, she wants to travel and see dragonflies in real life.[4][5] Gleema was unwilling to tell her sister Jana that she wanted to see them because of Jana's distaste for them.[6] However, because it is Gleema's birthday wish, Jana will ask Link to bring her the dragonflies.[7] However, Jana grows disgusted by them asks Link to deliver them instead.[8] As a reward for completing this quest, Jana will give Link a Silver Rupee.[9]
