Biography

Breath of the Wild

Dantz is a Hylian who works at Hateno Pasture in Hateno Village. He carries a Farmer's Pitchfork, which he uses to move hay. When Link first approaches him, Dantz asks if he is a wanderer.[7] He mutters to himself that this could work,[8] noting Link looks like he can use a Bow and asking if he could help.[9]

If Link agrees, Dantz remarks that he is the answer to his prayers.[10] He explains that he needs Link to hunt the Mountain Bucks in Retsam Forest, since they are overpopulated and destroying the environment.[11][12] He gives Link a time limit of one minute.[13] Should Link accept thos, Dantz wants to know if he can start hunting right away.[14]

When Link asks if there is a trick, Dantz suggests using a strong Bow so that he will only have to take one shot.[15] He also advises sneaking up to Deer without them noticing.[16] If Link decides to head out, Dantz calls him a trooper and asserts that he is counting on him.[17] Before the Deer Hunting Mini-Game starts, Dantz says he will call for Link once the minute is up.[18] When Link runs out of time, he will be transported back to Dantz.[19]

If Link fails to get a single Deer, Dantz refuses to give him any reward.[20] He gives him one Rupees for getting one to three Deer as thanks for doing his part.[21] If he gets four to six deer, Dantz calls Link vicious and rewards him with a Blue Rupee.[22] For seven to nine Deer, Dantz admits it is more than he thought Link would get and gives him a Red Rupee.[23] Dantz is shocked if Link gets all 10 Deer, saying there is such a thing as being too good at hunting and giving him a Purple Rupee.[24]

Like all residents of Hateno Village, Dantz will notice if Link speaks to him while carrying the Blue Flame. He recalls that Purah used to carry a similar flame,[25] and while he does not know why a stranger has it, he sends Link along anyway.[26] Afterwards, he will encourage Link to continue on his delivery for Purah.[27]
