Location and Uses

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, the Fire Arrows are obtained in Lake Hylia as an adult. Link must stand on top of the plaque above the Water Temple's entrance and shoot an Arrow at the sun just as it begins to rise.[4] The Arrow will freeze in midair and fall onto an island on the lake, where Link can pick it up, granting him the ability to use Fire Arrows. It is not necessary to complete the Water Temple to obtain the Fire Arrows, as Link can collect them by using the "Scarecrow's Song" and the Longshot or by using a Magic Bean plant.

Fire Arrows can be used to light Torches that are too far away for Din's Fire to reach. They use two Magic Points per Arrow.[5] They are not necessary for completion of the game, as a combination of Din's Fire and shooting an Arrow through an already lit Torch can be used to clear puzzles involving the Fire Arrows. However, Fire Arrows are needed to complete the Master Quest version of the game, as they are used to burn the webs on the ceiling of the Spirit Barrier in Ganon's Castle, which Din's Fire is unable to reach.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, the Fire Arrows are obtained in the Snowhead Temple after defeating a Wizzrobe.[6] Each Arrow fired uses Magic Points, but if there are not enough, then the Arrow will not be ablaze when released.[7] They are used to complete various puzzles, particularly in the Snowhead area. These puzzles usually involve melting ice or lighting several Torches at a fast pace. Fire Arrows are also used to burn the curtains blocking the sunlight during the battle with Igos du Ikana and his two servants in the Ancient Castle of Ikana.[8]

The Wind Waker

In The Wind Waker, Link can receive the Fire Arrows as well as the Ice Arrows at the Mother and Child Isles after learning the "Ballad of Gales." He must warp inside the large rock structure in order to meet the Fairy Queen, who will grant him the power to wield these special Arrows;[9] however, the Fairy Queen will not hand over the ability to use them until Link has rescued his sister, Aryll, from the Forsaken Fortress.

Fire Arrows are needed to melt the ice surrounding Ice Ring Isle so Link can obtain the Iron Boots. They must also be used to burn curtains within the Earth Temple. Fire Arrows do twice as much damage as regular Arrows.

Description
An arrow imbued with the power of fire. It breaks apart on impact, igniting objects in the immediate area. It's incredibly effective against cold things.
Common Locations
Hyrule Field
Eldin Canyon
Additional Effects
Ignites flammable targets, causing extra damage.

Fire Arrows are a type of Arrow that can be used with any Bow in Breath of the Wild. Fire Arrows immediately dissipate into a burst of Fire upon impact, burning anything flammable in the vicinity.[2] There are multiple ways to acquire Fire Arrows. They can be dropped by archer enemies or found inside Treasure Chests. Sometimes they can be found as bundles.[10][11]

Fire Arrows can be purchased from the following locations:

If Link or an enemy is shot by a Fire Arrow, they are set on Fire for a short period of time. Fire Arrows deal an additional 10 damage to the attack power of the Bow being used. Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, and Lynels sometimes use Fire Arrows. Link can immediately defeat Ice Wizzrobes, Blizzrobes, and Ice-Breath Lizalfos by shooting them with a single Fire Arrow.[2][12]

Fire Arrows emit heat and light, allowing Link to stay warm in cold climates, melt Ice, and illuminate dark areas. Link can also light Torches by shooting them with Fire Arrows. Fire Arrows cannot set anything on Fire while it is raining, as the flame quickly dies out.

Other Appearances

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Young Link's Neutral Special move is known as the Fire Bow in Super Smash Bros. Melee. When Link executes the Fire Bow, he looses Fire Arrows. They have a shorter range and deal less damage than Link's normal Arrows, but can set other players on fire.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U

Toon Link can use the Fire Bow as an alternate Neutral Special move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Fire Arrows act as Young Link's Neutral Special move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.

Trivia

  • In Ocarina of Time, enemies may be harmed by Din's Fire but not by Fire Arrows, provided they are unharmed by regular Arrows. An example are ReDeads, which take no damage from any variety of Arrows, but can be defeated by two uses of Din's Fire. Freezards and Anubis are unharmed by regular Arrows, but take damage from Fire Arrows and from Din's Fire.
