Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Gatepost Town Ruins are located in Hyrule Field, close to the former entrance to the Great Plateau. They are situated at a crossroads at the western end of the Forest of Time. Lake Kolomo borders the Ruins to the north, and the Outpost Ruins and East Post Ruins can be found nearby.

100 years ago, Gatepost Town was a predominately Hylian settlement.[3] Alongside the East Post and Outpost, Gatepost Town was used as a waypoint for those traveling to the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau, Lanayru, or the Gerudo Desert.[3][4] Prior to the Great Calamity, the Town's population was increasing, but influxes of Monsters in the area drove out its citizens.[5] When Calamity Ganon returned, Gatepost Town was destroyed.[3] Soldiers from the Hyrule Garrison fled to Gatepost Town, where they joined the civilian evacuation to Necluda.[6] Though the Ruins have been worn over time, travelers often use them for shelter.[4]

The Hylian traveling duo, Mina and Mils, can be found searching for the valuables left behind by the Town's former inhabitants.[7] When Link initially comes upon them, they will be fighting off a pair of Bokoblins at the Gatepost Town Ruins.[8][9] They will reward Link with Food, Materials, or Rupees if he saves them.[10][11]

A stone Treasure Chest can be found at the center of the Gatepost Town Ruins. If Link opens it, he will find an Emblazoned Shield.
