Gels are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][name references needed]

Characteristics

When attacked with a weak weapon, Zols have the ability to split into two Gels, which are smaller versions of Zols. Gels are circular, often green or red blobs that tend to bounce aimlessly around wherever they are found. They appear within Labyrinth, as seen in The Legend of Zelda, or across the overworld, as seen in Link's Awakening. Sometimes, Gels can appear without the presence of Zols. In The Legend of Zelda, Gels never drop any items when defeated. Gels in Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and Phantom Hourglass do not cause damage, but can attach themselves to Link's body.

Other Appearances

Ancient Stone Tablets

Oracle of Seasons 4-koma Gag Battle

Cadence of Hyrule

Gels appear as enemies in Cadence of Hyrule.

Trivia

  • Both Zols and Gels from Four Swords appear as unused enemies in the code of The Minish Cap.[3]
