The Three Giant Monster Brothers,(TotK)[1] also known as the Giant Brothers,(BotW)[2] are a recurring trio of Hinox brothers in The Legend of Zelda series.

Characteristics

Breath of the Wild

The Giant Brothers consist of the Hinox (Youngest Kin), the Hinox (Middle Kin), and the Hinox (Oldest Kin). They can be found on and around Mount Taran in East Necluda. Each Hinox has an Ancient Orb strung its necklace. The Hinox (Youngest Kin) is a regular Hinox, the Hinox (Middle Kin) is a Blue Hinox, and the Hinox (Oldest Kin) is a Black Hinox. In Master Mode, the Giant Brothers will retain their original coloring, unlike other Hinoxes found throughout Hyrule.

As part of "The Three Giant Brothers" Shrine Quest, Link is tasked with stealing the Giant Brothers' Ancient Orbs in order to find an Ancient Shrine.[3] To do this, Link can defeat each of the three Brothers. Alternatively, Link can use Stealth to steal the Orbs from the Brothers while they sleep. After placing all three Ancient Orbs into the Pedestals on Mount Taran, Tawa Jinn Shrine will rise from the ground nearby.[4]

Once Link has defeated Calamity Ganon, Kilton will ask him to defeat all of the Hinoxes in Hyrule, allowing him to smell the scents they leave behind. All three Giant Brothers are included in this figure. When Link accomplishes this request, Kilton will give him the Medal of Honor: Hinox as a reward.

Tears of the Kingdom

Following the Upheaval, the Three Giant Monster Brothers moved into three separate Caves in the vicinity of the Floria Falls: the Calora Lake Cave, the Corta Lake Cave, and the Rodai Lakefront Tunnel.[5]

Trivia

  • The Three Giant Monster Brothers are likely a reference to the Hinox Brothers from Tri Force Heroes, as both have three members: a youngest, middle, and eldest.
