The Kitawak Shrine,[1] designated by the trial name Upward and Forward,[1] is a Shrine of Light in Tears of the Kingdom.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Kitawak Shrine is located on top of the East Gerudo Mesa in the Gerudo Highlands. It corresponds with the Kawatik Lightroot in the Depths.

Themes and Navigation

The entrance to the Kitawak Shrine is a short floor that opens way to an abyss below. Across from the entrance there is a floating platform with a short segment jutting out toward the entrance. At the ledge across from this segment there is a slab connected to the ledge by a hinge. This hinge holds it at an angle, preventing Link from crossing the gap. Along the floor there is a Stone Slab, which can be merged to the hinged slab to weigh it down and create a bridge to the floating platform.

To the left of the floating platform, there is a spire with a Gear at its top standing between the platform and another floor along the wall. By merging a Stone Slab to the Gear, Link can create a rotating bridge to this floor. Along the right side of the platform, there is a pair of ramps cutting through the floor to a slightly lower level that holds a second Stone Slab. Beyond this side of the platform, there is a hinged seesaw in the gap leading to a higher level.

On this higher level, there is a Shock Switch beside a second, hinged slab. This slab is held downward by the hinges holding it over an enclosed lower area with a platform controlled by the Shock Switch. This platform sits beneath the end of the hinged slab, and will raise to push the hinged slab when the Shock Switch is activated. This effect remains until the Shock Switch is manually deactivated. By merging one of the previous Stone Slabs onto the hinged slab and activating the Shock Switch while standing at the end of the Stone Slab, Link can propel himself in the air to reach the end of the Shrine.

A Statue of Rauru and Sonia can be found at the end of the Kitawak Shrine. By interacting with the Terminal in front of the Statue, Link can receive a Light of Blessing to cleanse the corruption of Darkness from within him.[2][3]
