Biography

Breath of the Wild

Maca is a Korok that lives in the Korok Forest. He can be found outside the entrance to the Great Deku Tree's Navel, where he can provide Link with information about the Forest and Master Sword.[4][5][6][7] As Link passes Maca, he will advertise their services.[8]

If Link asks about the Korok Forest, Maca proclaims that its highlights are the Great Deku Tree and the Pedestal of the Master Sword.[9] He then quietly remarks that the Great Deku Tree likely is not happy to have been turned into a tourist trap.[10] Maca explains that the Koroks decorated the Great Deku Tree's Navel for Link, including an Inn and General Stores.[11]

Moving on to the Pedestal of the Master Sword, Maca states that it is where the Master Sword rests.[12] Since the Pedestal is located in the center of Korok Forest, Maca claims that standing on it will give one a sense of most of the paths located within.[13] In addition to this, he informs Link that he can use the Bean Lamps to navigate the Korok Forest as well.[14] Should Link ever find himself lost in the Korok Forest, Maca tells him to return to the Pedestal to reorient himself.[15]

Next, Link can ask Maca about the Master Sword.[16] Maca tells Link that the Master Sword may lose power if overused, but it will regenerate over time.[17] He suggests only using it for fighting evil, as opposed to trivial matters like opening bottles or cans.[18] Should Link want to know more, Maca directs him to the Great Deku Tree.[19]

Finally, when Link asks about leaving the Korok Forest, Maca questions why he would want to leave such a perfect place.[20] However, he then reveals that he is joking, and he understands that Link would need to leave the Forest to save Hyrule Kingdom.[21] Maca tells Link that past the Sign east of the Pedestal of the Master Sword, he will find an Ogre Tree.[22] If Link enters its mouth, he will be taken back to the entrance to the Lost Woods.[23] The Koroks set this up because they do not like traversing the Lost Woods.[24] At this Ogre Tree, Link will find a Stone Tablet bearing a note from Maca, wherein he assures the reader that they will not be eaten by the Tree.[25]
