The Magic Gear is an archetype of Weapon in Breath of the Wild.[1]
Location and Uses
The Magic Gear is a set of Weapons that are made in areas of great elemental power, such as Death Mountain, the Hebra Mountains, and Hyrule Ridge.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] They come in three varieties: flame, frost, and thunder. Flame weaponry was made by ancient Goron smiths using Lava from Death Mountain, and they set Enemies and Objects on Fire when used.[2][5][8] Frost weaponry was made using ancient Ice and ore from the Hebra Mountains and will freeze Enemies when used.[3][6][9] Lastly, thunder weaponry was forged by the Royal Family of Hyrule using lightning from Hyrule Ridge and Thundra Plateau, and they will electrocute any Enemies that they are used against.[4][7][10]
Since they are made of metal, pieces of Magic Gear can attract Lightning when equipped during a Thunderstorm and conduct Electricity. They will also sink if they are dropped in Water, but they can be picked up using the Magnesis Rune on the Sheikah Slate. Finally, they will not burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate.
