Mary is a character mentioned in Breath of the Wild.[3]
Biography
Mary was a female Horse who lived at Snowfield Stable with her mate Harry and Monkton when he was a child.[2] Monkton was an adventurous child and, as there were no other children around for him to play with, he befriended Mary and Harry and took them with him on his adventures.[3]
If Link asks Monkton about Mary, he will explain that, in the nearby Tanagar Canyon, there are a set of ruins called the Forgotten Temple.[4] While he does not know who made the Temple, the adults would always tell him that it was too dangerous to investigate.[5] Ignoring this advice, Monkton took Mary to the Tanagar Canyon to search for the ruins.[6] However, Mary lost her footing and slipped into the Canyon, never to be seen again.[1]
Harry and Mary's descendants currently live in the stalls next to Snowfield Stable, where they are looked after by an elderly Monkton.[2] Though he has been haunted by the memory of losing Mary,[7] Monkton has been able to reconcile with his grief.[8]
