Mazli is a character in Breath of the Wild.[2]

Biography

Mazli is a Rito who guards the entrance to Rito Village. He carries a Feathered Spear, and he patrols closer to Rito Village than his fellow guard, Gesane.

Upon meeting Link, Mazli claims that he would like to show him around, but now is not a good time.[3] If Link asks where he is, Mazli responds that he is in Rito Village, but they are not in welcoming mood.[4] To learn more, Mazli directs Link to the rest of the Village's inhabitants.[5] When asked what is going on, Mazli faces the sky toward Divine Beast Vah Medoh, explaining that it showed up a while back and shot down the Rito warriors who flew up to check it out.[6] Although it is said to have once been a divine being that protected the Village, it does not seem very divine to him.[7] Mazli is thankful it only shoots at anything flying in the sky, but it is still demoralizing for the Rito to have to fly so low to the ground.[8] When Link leaves, Mazli allows him to do so.[9]

If Link speaks to Mazli again, he will recognize him and state that there are no new happenings.[10] After starting the "Divine Beast Vah Medoh" Main Quest, Link can ask Mazli is he knows Teba. Mazli claims that Teba has left Rito Village.[11] He directs Link to Gesane, who might know where Teba is.[12]

After Divine Beast Vah Medoh has been appeased, Mazli asks Link if he has come to see the Divine Beast.[13] Vah Medoh has been perched above Rito Village, and it has not moved since then.[14] Mazli is surprised that the spire there can support its weight.[15]

During the "EX Champion Revali's Song" Main Quest, which is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack, Link can encounter Mazli along the edge of Tanagar Canyon. When asked why he is there, Mazli explains that Kaneli told him to keep watch on Dinraal, the Dragon that appears in the Canyon.[16] Due to the frequency in sightings of Dinraal, the citizens of Rito Village have become worried it will cause them trouble.[17] He does not blame them for being worried, since Divine Beast Vah Medoh left them all on edge.[18] While everything seems fine, Mazli plans on continuing his watch to be sure.[19] He recalls that Dinraal flies through Tanagar Canyon every night, and he finds the way its horns glow to be captivating.[20]

As Dinraal passes by, Mazli comments that he believes it to be friendly due to how tranquil it is.[21] He then points out the glow of its horns to Link, once again stating that it is captivating.[22] However, Mazli is still fearful of Dinraal's size, even though he knows it will not hurt him.[23] After Link has unearthed Shira Gomar Shrine, Mazli notices that Dinraal's horns have stopped glowing and wonders what it means.[24]
