The Oman Au Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Magnesis Trial,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Oman Au Shrine is located on the Great Plateau. It is one of four Ancient Shrines that Link must complete during "The Isolated Plateau" Main Quest.[2]

After Link activates the Sheikah Towers during the first Main Quest, "Follow the Sheikah Slate," the Old Man approaches him at the base of the Great Plateau Tower. The Old Man points him to towards Oman Au Shrine across a small lake nearby, and asks Link to go there and bring him any treasure he finds inside.[3][4] Despite this, it is not required to complete Oman Au Shrine first. As Link enters the Ancient Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Oman Au.[5]

Themes and Navigation

When Link first enters the Oman Au Shrine, he will find a Sheikah Slate Pedestal with a Guidance Stone above it in the corner of the room. When Link places his Sheikah Slate into the Pedestal, the Guidance Stone will authenticate it and distill a Rune for him.[6] A drop of Ancient Energy will then fall onto the Sheikah Slate, unlocking the Magnesis Rune.[7] Using Magnesis, Link is able to lift the two metallic slabs in the center of the chamber, revealing a hidden passageway with a Ladder.

After going through the passageway, Link will come up in another room with a wall of cubes blocking the way to the next room. One of the cubes is metallic, allowing Link to remove it with Magnesis and use it to topple the wall. Past this wall is a Guardian Scout I, which will shoot lasers at Link. It must be defeated in order to progress.

Past the Guardian Scout I are three separate platforms in a large pool of Water. The first two platforms are bridged together by a metal slab. The first platform also has a Ladder so that Link can climb back up if he falls into the Water. After crossing to the second platform, Link must use Magnesis to move the metal slab to connect the final two platforms. At the end of the room, Link will find a pair large metallic doors that he can pull open with Magnesis, revealing the final room of the Ancient Shrine.

At the end of the Ancient Shrine, Oman Au is found waiting for Link on the Monk's Pedestal. If this is the first Ancient Shrine that Link has completed, Oman Au explains that they are a Monk of Hylia dedicated to helping defeat Calamity Ganon.[8] Link's arrival fulfills Oman Au's duty, and the Monk gives him a Spirit Orb as a reward.[9][10] Oman Au then wishes Link well and fades away.[11]
