Pumaag Nitae is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Pumaag Nitae is a Sheikah Monk who serves the Goddess Hylia. Following the first Great Calamity and the ostracism of the Sheikah 10,000 years prior to Breath of the Wild, Pumaag Nitae became a Monk and constructed an Ancient Shrine to help prepare Link against the threat of Calamity Ganon.[4][1]

Following Link's Slumber of Restoration in the Shrine of Resurrection, the Pumaag Nitae Shrine is activated and can then be entered by someone bearing a Sheikah Slate.[5] When Link enters the Shrine, he is greeted by the Monk and is offered the Shrine's Trial in the name of Hylia.[2] If Link completes the Trial, Pumaag Nitae praises him and rewards the Hylian Champion with a Spirit Orb.[6] With their role fulfilled, Pumaag Nitae wishes Link well as their body fades away.[7]

Other Appearances

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

As part of the "Trial of Pumaag Nitae" Quest, Pumaag Nitae requests that the Warriors bring them proof of their triumphs and a "gift from the earth."[8] When the Warriors do so, Pumaag Nitae rewards them by blessing the land, which results in a bonus Heart for Monk Maz Koshia.[9][10]
