River of the Dead
The River of the Dead is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Features and Overview
Breath of the Wild
The River of the Dead is a body of Cold Water located on the western portion of the Great Plateau. It is fed by a Waterfall originating from Mount Hylia. Due to its altitude and the presence of Cold Water, the air around the River of the Dead is afflicted by a Freezing Climate, which requires Link to have at least one level of Cold Resistance to traverse the area without taking damage. The River flows west and leads off of the Great Plateau, ending in a Waterfall that feeds into the Regencia River. Just before this is a damaged wooden bridge, which spans the entirety of the River. To cross it, Link must use the Magnesis Rune to manipulate a nearby Metal Plate, laying flat against the bridge's planks. A Raft can be found at the end of a Dock near the River's center. Scattered on the riverbank are various Trees, patches of Grass, unlit Campfires, and Fallen Guardians. A Cooking Pot can be found in the remains of a Ruined House.
There is a cave behind the Waterfall that feeds the River of the Dead. Housed inside the cave are two Treasure Chests, which contain a Spiked Boko Bow and a bundle of five Arrows. Two more Treasure Chests can be found in the Water of the River itself, containing a single Amber each.
Only one Korok Seed Puzzle can be found at the River of the Dead. It takes the form of Leaves with Fairy Dust located under the bridge that spans the River. When Link interacts with the Leaves, a Korok will appear and award him a Korok Seed.[3]
