Running Crab
Running Crabs are aggressive coconut crabs commonly found in various shoreline and sandy areas of Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.[name references needed]
Characteristics and Variations
Running Crab
The standard Running Crab is a dangerous foe early on in Sunshine Seashore, aggressively chasing Tingle down and ganging up on him where possible. Despite this, they are still relatively weak and are easily dealt with when Tingle obtains a Bodyguard. Running Crabs yield Minced Meat and sometimes even drop Marine Gem.
Blue Running Crab
Blue Running Crabs appear in Cape Treasure and Lon Lon Meadow. They are largely identical to their red counterparts but are somewhat stronger. The Ground Shell and Amethyst can be obtained from the blue variety.
Stealing Sand Crab
There is only one Stealing Sand Crab in the game, found far later in the game in the Fairy Garden. Unlike those fought earlier, this enemy is cowardly and will flee from Tingle. It has stolen the Blazing Herb, one of the five Herbs that Tingle must recover to restore the fountains. Despite the name, it has no apparent relation to Sand Crabs.
Nomenclature
The name カケアシガニ (Kakeashigani) is a play on the Japanese words meaning "running fast" and ヤシガニ (Yashigani), meaning "coconut crab."
