Biography
Breath of the Wild
Russ is a member of the Shield Breakers, a Shield Surfing gang, consisting of him and his friend Fin.[3] He asks Link to buy from the selection of Shields he has, which are used for Shield Surfing. If Link purchases a Shield, he tells him about the Hylian Shield, which he thinks would be perfect for Surfing with.[4][5] After discussing the Shield, he tells Link that there is a rumor of one being in Hyrule Castle.[6]

Tears of the Kingdom
Russ and Fin went to Selmie's Spot the receive Shield Surfing training from her, but due to the blizzard over Hebra Mountains, they can't go outside though.[7][8] When Link arrives there, he recommends he should return once the weather conditions improved, as Selmie might take other students by then.[9] When spoken to again he advices Link to watch for flags in the vicinity, as they contain Flint and Wood which help create a Campfire. [10] He wields a Wooden Shield.
