Properties
Def 3

Rusty Shields are old Shields that were once potentially used by the Knights of Hyrule.[1] Though they still offer some defense, a majority of their usefulness has been lost to time.[1] These Shields belong to the Rusty Gear equipment archetype, a series of deteriorated Weapons.[3] They can commonly be found abandoned in Hyrule Field and East Necluda.

If a Rock Octorok inhales a Rusty Shield, it will chew it before spitting out a cleaned counterpart.[3] The Shield has a 50% chance to be a Traveler's Shield, a 35% chance to be a Soldier's Shield, a 10% chance to be a Knight's Shield, and a 5% chance to be a Royal Shield.

Being made of metal, Rusty Shields will conduct Electricity and attract Lightning if they are equipped during a Thunderstorm. They will also sink if they are dropped in Water, but they can be picked up and manipulated with the Magnesis Rune. Finally, unlike wooden Shields, Rusty Shields will not burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate.
