The Sage of Wind,(TWW | TotK)[2][3] also known as the Sage of the Wind Temple,(TWW)[4] is a title belonging to multiple characters in The Legend of Zelda series.
Biography
The Wind Waker
The Sage of Wind was a Kokiri named Fado who served Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule from the Wind Temple during the Era without a Hero. During the Era of the Great Sea, he was killed by Monsters when Ganondorf escaped his seal under the Great Sea so that he could not use his sacred powers to restore power to the Master Sword. Though he was still bound to the Wind Temple out of a sense of duty, his Spirit could no longer perform the rite.
When Link arrives at Gale Isle, Fado greets him and informs him of his condition. He then instructs Link to find another who carries the same Instrument that he does to awaken as a new Sage of Wind. Makar is chosen as the new Sage of Wind, and he travels alongside Link through the Wind Temple to defeat Molgera, the Boss plaguing the Temple. There, Makar and Fado play a duet conducted by Link's Wind Waker to restore the Master Sword's power in order to defeat Ganondorf.
Tears of the Kingdom
Some time after the Establishment of Hyrule Kingdom, Ganondorf kills Queen Sonia and steals her Secret Stone, using its power to amplify his own to become the Demon King Ganondorf. An Imprisoning War breaks out between Ganondorf's Monsters and the people of Hyrule to put an end to his terror. A Rito warrior is chosen by Rauru, the first King of Hyrule, to act as the Sage of Wind.[3] In return for swearing his loyalty to Rauru, he is gifted a Secret Stone of his own to amplify his powers in preparation for the upcoming confrontation with Demon King Ganondorf.[3] However, this does not prove to be enough to stand against Ganondorf, who soundly deflects all of the Sage of Wind's attacks.[3] After Rauru sacrifices himself to seal Ganondorf,[3] the Sage of Time Zelda meets with the Sage of Wind to warn him of Ganondorf's inevitable return.[5] She asks for help from the Rito to defeat the Demon King when Rauru's seal is broken in the distant future.[6][7] The Sage of Wind humbly accepts and promises that a Sage of Wind from the Rito will awaken to fight alongside Link when the time comes.[8]
In the distant future, Link and Tulin defeat Colgera, the source of a mighty Blizzard plaguing the Hebra Region. This Monster was sent by the Demon King to prevent a new warrior from finding the late Sage of Wind's Secret Stone and awakening as the new Sage of Wind.[9] When Tulin touches the Secret Stone, the Spirit of the ancient Sage of Wind speaks to them to tell them the history of the Imprisoning War and the duty of the Rito to defeat Demon King Ganondorf.[10] Tulin accepts this responsibility and awakens as the new Sage of Wind. Upon Tulin doing so, the Secret Stone attaches itself to Tulin's leg and grants him the power to create a Sage Avatar, a Magical duplicate of himself.[11][12] To assist Link along his journey, Tulin grabs Link's Right Arm and swears to fight alongside him, imparting the Magic of his Sage Avatar into Link and allowing him to summon a copy of Tulin at any time.[13][14] This manifests as a Ring known as the Vow of Tulin, Sage of Wind.
Tulin appears at Gloom's Origin to fight alongside Link as the Sage of Wind to fulfill his predecessor's promise. However, they are temporarily separated when Demon King Ganondorf summons another Colgera. Tulin ultimately defeats this Colgera on his own and rejoins Link in the climactic battle to defeat the Demon King.
