The Shai Yota Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Shai Yota's Blessing,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

Shai Yota Shrine is located on an island in Horon Lagoon in the Lanayru Sea. Initially, the Ancient Shrine is buried beneath the ground.

Link can find Kass at Horon Lagoon, who will ask him if he wants to hear an "Ancient Song" passed down in the area.[2] If Link chooses to listen, Kass sings a song about how one must land on the altar to open the way.[3] This begins the "Master of the Wind" Shrine Quest.

To access the Shrine, several cracked rocks have to be destroyed using explosives. After destroying each cracked rock, Wind will begin blowing through where the rock used to be. When all are destroyed, a large gust of Wind will blow from a large island in the Horon Lagoon to a smaller island with a Pedestal. If Link uses the Paraglider to glide from the large island onto the Pedestal, Shai Yota Shrine will rise from beneath the ground on another small island in the Lagoon, completing the Shrine Quest.[4]

As Link enters the Ancient Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Shai Yota, who states that merely being able to enter the Shrine is proof of his worth.[5]

Themes and Navigation

Shai Yota Shrine features no puzzles, simply a direct path to the Monk's Pedestal bearing Shai Yota. Along this path is a Treasure Chest containing a Great Flameblade. As Link approaches Shai Yota, the Monk will give him a Spirit Orb for reaching the Ancient Shrine.[6] Shai Yota will then wish Link well before fading away.[7]
