The Southwestern Sea is a location in Phantom Hourglass.[1]

Features and Overview

The Southwestern Sea is a quadrant in the World of the Ocean King located in the southwest. The Southwestern Sea is divided into eastern and western halves by a line of rocky islets. The western half can only be accessed after Link has acquired a Cannon for the SS Linebeck to break through the islets.[2]

The eastern half of the Southwestern Sea contains Mercay Island, the Isle of Ember, and Cannon Island. The Sea's western half contains Molida Island, Spirit Island, and Nyave's Traveler's Ship.

Beedle's Shop Ship can occasionally be found wandering the waters of the Southwestern Sea, though it will eventually leave for another quadrant of the World of the Ocean King. After obtaining the Cyclone Slate, Link can speak to a Golden Frog south of Mercay Island and northwest of Molida Island to learn the corresponding symbols that allow him to Warp to those locations.[3] The Ghost Ship will appear to the west of Mercay Island once Link has defeated Bellum at the bottom of the Temple of the Ocean King, awaiting the final battle.

When the SS Linebeck leaves Molida Island after restoring Ciela's memories, Link will be stopped by an attack from Jolene, who has been pursuing Linebeck.[4] Linebeck will task Link with avoiding her and her Torpedo.[5] During this first encounter, the engine of the SS Linebeck will suddenly die, allowing her to catch up and board the Ship.[6] Once inside, she will proceed to fight Link for keeping the location of Linebeck secret.[7] Once she has been defeated, Jolene will retreat.[8] From this point forward, Jolene can be randomly encountered throughout the World of the Ocean King.
