Stalnox
Stalnoxes are recurring Sub-Bosses in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3] They are Stal versions of Hinoxes.

Stalnoxes are the remains of Hinoxes that are only active at night, between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM.[4] During the day, they bury their faces in the ground to avoid exposing their Eyes to sunlight. They will not become active if Link is too close when night falls. If morning arrives while Link is fighting a Stalnox, it will dig underground, fleeing the fight until the next night, at which point it can be battled again.
Like their living counterparts, Stalnoxes pursues Link, attempting to pound him to the ground or catch him between its hands. They are also able to pick up Trees to hurl at Link.[4] Uniquely, they can remove their ribs, collarbone, and even an arm to throw at Link. It is also able to dig up Bomb Barrels, which explode on contact.
Shooting an Arrow into the Eye of a Stalnox will stun it, giving Link a chance to attack. However, when its health is past half, shooting the eyeball will detach it from its socket, which causes the Stalnox's body to break up into a pile of bones for a few moments. During this time, Link can attack the eyeball or pick it up and throw it further. Eventually, however, the Eye will bounce back to the Stalnox. Shooting the eyeball with a Bomb Arrow will automatically remove the Eye no matter how much health the Stalnox has. Once the Eye has lost all of its health, if the Stalnox and the Eye are not reunited before the morning comes at 5:00am, or if Link takes the Eye far enough away from the Stalnox's initial location, the Stalnox will be defeated. It drops Hinox Teeth and rare Weapons, the latter of which were previously embedded in its body.
Prior to the second Great Calamity, the Royal Guards of Hyrule used the Stalnox kept in Hyrule Castle's Lockup to test their members.[5] When Link defeats this Stalnox, a Treasure Chest containing the Hylian Shield will appear nearby.
After Link has defeated Calamity Ganon for the first time, he will be able to ask Kilton about Hinoxes.[6] When he does, Kilton asks Link to defeat all of the Hinoxes in Hyrule so he can examine the scent they leave behind. This figure includes every Stalnox. If Link achieves this goal, Kilton will give him the Medal of Honor: Hinox as a reward. Kilton's research allows him to discover that the different types of Hinoxes have varying dietary preferences.[7]
