The Tahno O'ah Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Tahno O'ah's Blessing,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Tahno O'ah Shrine is located at the base of Madorna Mountain on Mount Lanayru. It is the goal of the "Secret of the Cedars" Shrine Quest, but it can be accessed without activating the Quest.

To receive the Quest, Link must speak to Clavia in Hateno Village. She points out the three Cedar Trees on the summits of Madorna Mountain, claiming to have found an old letter in her home, the Village Chief's House, that instructs the reader to line the Trees up and turn towards the Necluda Sea to find a Trial.[2] Clavia believes the note is referring Afromsia Coast and wonders whether there will be a treasure waiting.[3] However, Clavia is unable to abandon her daughter Karin to search for treasure, so she asks Link to investigate on her behalf.[4]

Following Clavia's instructions, Link will find a cave that is obstructed by a rock wall due east of the three Cedar Trees atop Madorna Mountain's peaks. By destroying the rocks with a Remote Bomb or Bomb Arrow, he will be able to access Tahno O'ah Shrine and complete the Shrine Quest.[5] As Link enters the Ancient Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Tahno O'ah, who states that merely being able to enter the Shrine is proof of Link's worth.[6]

Themes and Navigation

Tahno O'ah Shrine features no puzzles, simply a direct path to the Monk's Pedestal bearing Tahno O'ah. Along this path is a Treasure Chest containing the Climbing Boots. When Link approaches Tahno O'ah, the Monk will give him a Spirit Orb as a reward for completing the Trial.[7] Afterwards, Tahno O'ah will wish Link well before fading away.[8]
