Not to be confused with Vessel of Light or Spirit Vessel.

The Vessel is an Item in Spirit Tracks.[1]

Location and Uses

After obtaining the Trusty Freight Car from Kagoron in Goron Village, Link can speak with the Wise One in Papuchia Village, who perceives that he has been surrounded by bad luck lately.[2] She explains to Link that a spirit of misfortune has been following him,[3] and offers him a Vessel to ward them off.[4] The Vessel is supposedly worth 10,000 Rupees but is offered to Link for just 50 Rupees.[5] If he buys it, it will be placed aboard his Freight Car, where anything colliding with the Spirit Train will cause it to shatter, requiring a replacement.

The Vessel actually has no spirit-defying properties; its purpose is to be delivered to Steem at the Snow Sanctuary, who is looking to redecorate the Sanctuary with such an item.[6] When Link finally arrives with the Vessel, Steem graciously thanks him for the new decoration,[7] and rewards the young hero for his efforts with Force Gem 14.[8]

After Steem places the Vessel in the Sanctuary, Link can break it with a single swipe of his Sword. If this happens, Steem will be shocked and demand a new one.[9][10] Princess Zelda will even blame him for the incident as they are boarding the Spirit Train to leave, and suggests that they replace the Vessel in order to make it up to Steem.[11] Link can buy another Vessel from the Wise One; this time one more powerful and expensive, despite looking identical.[12] Should Link purchase this Vessel and transport it back to the Snow Sanctuary, Steem will reward Link for his thoughtfulness with a valuable Treasure.[13]
