Shock Resistance

Voltfin Trout can be found swimming in the waters of Hyrule Ridge and the Tabantha Frontier. Like other fish, they can also be dropped by Octoroks, specifically Forest Octoroks near Thundra Plateau. Link can eat one raw to restore one Heart to his Life Gauge. Voltfin Trout exposed to Ice become Frozen Trout, while ones exposed to Fire turn into Roasted Trout. Cooking with Voltfin Trout results in meals that grant Link temporary Shock Resistance.[1]

During the Side Quest, Walton will ask Link to bring him several items that correspond to his riddles. The fourth riddle he tells asks for something with scales and a tail that will zap people, and refers to it as a shocking swimmer.[4] When Link placed a Voltfin Trout on the leaf, Walton will cheer that he figured it out, and then move on to the next riddle.[5]

In a Cooking Pot, Voltfin Trout and other fish can be used to make a Fish Skewer, a Fish and Mushroom Skewer, and Salt-Grilled Fish in a Cooking Pot. They're also among the seafood that can make Fish Pie, Creamy Seafood Soup, Copious Fish Skewers, Glazed Seafood, Gourmet Meat and Seafood Fry, Meat and Seafood Fry, Monster Stew, Pepper Seafood, Prime Meat and Seafood Fry, Seafood Meunière, Seafood Rice Balls, and Steamed Fish.
