Willi is a character in The Wind Waker.[2]

Biography

Willi was originally a carpenter of Windfall Island. He loved the sky and wanted to fly just like the Rito, so he began dressing up as one of them. He can be found together with his older brother Obli on the Flight Control Platform, running the Bird-Man Contest.

Nomenclature

As his Spanish, French and German names seem to suggest, Willi might be based on Wilbur Wright, one half of the Wright brothers who are credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane. However, Orville Wright was younger than Wilbur, while Obli is older than Willi.
