Otherwise resembling Rabbits, Blupees are luminescent blue beings with a face resembling a barn owl's and golden wreaths in the place of ears.[5] They flee when they notice Link, eventually disappearing in a flash of light. While their origins are mysterious, they are known to collected Rupees.[5][6] As a result, they drop Rupees when struck by an Arrow, a Remote Bomb, a thrown Boomerang, or any melee Weapon; though they cannot be killed.[7] Blupees can be found in forests all over Hyrule Kingdom.

Several Blupees gather on Satori Mountain every night the Lord of the Mountain appears. Blupees share many characteristics with the Lord of the Mountain, whose face resembles a pair of Blupees. Like the Lord of the Mountain, Blupees appear to be mystical rather than natural creatures, being referred to as spirits.[6]

The Rumor Mill: Volume 6 details a hunter's encounter with a Blupee.[3] While returning from a hunt, he saw a light moving nearby.[8] He fired an Arrow at it, and when he investigated, he found Rupees.[9] Following this, the hunter would shoot at the light whenever he saw it and find Rupees, which resulted in him becoming rich.[10] Traysi claims that this light was a Blupee, and she encourages her readers to obtain Rupees using this method.[11]

During the "Legendary Rabbit Trial" Side Quest, Peeks asks Link to show him a Picture of a Blupee.[12] When Link shows Peeks the Picture, he will be amazed by how beautiful it is.[13] As a reward, he gives Link a Silver Rupee.[14] Afterwards, Peeks speculates that Blupees sparkle because of all the Rupees they carry, and he wonders if they make all the Rupees found in Hyrule Kingdom.[15]

Blupees commonly appear close to Caves throughout Hyrule. If they spot Link, they will run away or travel toward the entrance of a nearby cave before vanishing. They also appear after Bubbulfrogs are defeated.
