Boulders,(LA | MM | TMC | BotW | TotK)[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][name references needed] also known as Rocks,(TLoZ)[8] Huge Rocks,(TWW)[9] and Falling Rocks,(TFoE | TWoG)[name references needed] are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.

Characteristics

Boulders are rocks that fall in random patterns when Link is traveling through certain mountainous regions of Hyrule, commonly appearing on Death Mountain. They can often be hard to predict and will inflict damage to Link if he comes in contact with them.

The Legend of Zelda

Rock
These rocks crumble off Death Mountain and fall down to attack Link. He can't destroy these natural nuisances.

Rocks first appeared as rocks in The Legend of Zelda. These boulders fall from of Death Mountain.

A Link to the Past

In A Link to the Past, Boulders appear on the lower western region of Death Mountain in the Light World. They are much larger and able to cause a whole Heart of damage. It is easier to travel further up the mountain by traveling through the caves to avoid them.

Link's Awakening

In Link's Awakening, Boulders appear, similar to their original appearance, on the east of the Tal Tal Mountain Range. Boulders are also used as weapons by the Avalaunch in Link's Awakening DX when it slams the ground.

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, Boulders appear on Death Mountain, but rather than bouncing down the Mountain, they roll down it once Link has become an adult. Boulders also appear in Gerudo Valley and certain Dungeons. Sometimes they roll around areas such as Ganon's Castle.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, Boulders behave like they do in Ocarina of Time when climbing the Stone Tower. A gray variant can be found in the Deku Shrine.

Oracle of Ages

In Oracle of Ages, Boulders appear on Restoration Wall.

Four Swords Adventures

In Four Swords Adventures, Boulders appear on Death Mountain. They show up in caves where they can be pushed, where they also roll around and can be dropped into pits to make them safe to cross. Hinoxes in Four Swords Adventures throw massive Boulders at the Links.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, Boulders appear on Mount Crenel and behave similarly to their A Link to the Past incarnation.

Phantom Hourglass

In Phantom Hourglass, rolling Boulders appear on the Isle of Ruins.

Spirit Tracks

In Spirit Tracks, Boulders appear in the Fire Sanctuary. Static varieties are found in other locations and can be pushed to solve puzzle, or destroyed by Wrecker Phantoms.

A Link Between Worlds

Tri Force Heroes

In Tri Force Heroes, Boulders sometimes roll down the path instead of Snowballs in the Snowball Ravine.

Breath of the Wild

Boulders in Breath of the Wild are sometimes used in puzzles to reveal Koroks that are scattered across Hyrule Kingdom where Link must push a Boulder into a hole some distance away.[5] Sometimes the holes are at the bottom of a slope with the Boulders at the top, and sometimes they are on level ground and must be launched using Stasis. A variation of this puzzle involves using Magnesis on an Iron Ball to get it into the hole.[5] After at least one Boulder makes it into the hole, a Korok will appear and give Link a Korok Seed.[10]

Tears of the Kingdom

Link can Fuse Boulders to Weapons.
