Daag Chokah Shrine

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia

The Daag Chokah Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Daag Chokah's Blessing,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

Daag Chokah Shrine is located in the northwest corner of the Great Hyrule Forest. Link must first talk to Tasho at the western entrance to the Korok Forest, who will give Link "The Lost Pilgrimage" Shrine Quest. This Quest asks Link to follow Oaki to the Ancient Shrine to ensure his safety.[2]

After receiving the Shrine Quest, Oaki will set off towards Daag Chokah Shrine. While following Oaki, Link must avoid being seen, since Oaki will head back and start again if he spots Link.[3] When Oaki reaches the Ancient Shrine without noticing Link, he will celebrate completing the Trial.[4] Oaki will then see Link before boasting about his bravery for completing the trial by himself, and he recalls that Great Deku Tree said there was a Monk's blessing in the Shrine.[5] After talking to Oaki, the Shrine Quest will be completed.[6]

If Link talks to Oaki after he returns to Tasho, Oaki and Tasho will reveal that the path to reach Daag Chokah Shrine is marked by Flowers.[7] It is possible to reach the Daag Chokah Shrine's location without starting the Shrine Quest, but Link will not be able to access the Ancient Shrine, finding an empty patch of land instead. However, sneaking past Oaki after beginning the Shrine Quest will allow Link access the Shrine without completing the Quest.

As Link enters Daag Chokah Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Daag Chokah, who states that merely being able to enter the Ancient Shrine is proof of Link's worth.[8]

Themes and Navigation

Daag Chokah Shrine features no puzzles, simply a direct path to the Monk's Pedestal bearing Daag Chokah. Along this path is a stone Treasure Chest containing an Ancient Core. When Link approaches Daag Chokah, the Monk will commend him for reaching the Ancient Shrine, giving him a Spirit Orb as a reward.[9] After this, Daag Chokah will wish Link well before fading away.[10]
