Daka Tuss Shrine

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia

The Daka Tuss Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Sunken Scoop,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Daka Tuss Shrine is located in the Lanayru Wetlands on Shrine Island, north of Kakariko Village. It is surrounded by shallow water and is out in the open. As Link enters, the Monk of the Shrine, Daka Tuss, will introduce him to the trial.[2]

Themes and Navigation

Inside the Daka Tuss Shrine, a square pool of Water holds three Ancient Orbs and a metal bowl. To the left of the pool is a Concave Slot blocked behind a short metal grate. To get an Ancient Orb over the grate, Link must use Magnesis and raise the metal bowl to scoop up an Ancient Orb to carry it over the gate, at which point he must drop it into the Concave Slot.

With the Ancient Orb inserted into the Concave Slot, the gate by the entrance opens. In the next room, another square pool holds three Ancient Orbs and a submerged Floor Switch. Behind the pool, a large metal grate blocks Link from the Monk's Pedestal.

Another Concave Slot is hidden behind a grate to the right of the pool. However, the top of the Concave Slot is covered, blocking Link from dropping an Ancient Orbs into it. Since Link is not able to press the Floor Switch under the Water, he must bring the metal bowl from the previous room and use it to press down the Floor Switch. The ceiling will not stay open if the Floor Switch is inactive, so Link must first leave an Ancient Orb on the top of the grate, and then press the Floor Switch, dropping the Ancient Orb into the Concave Slot.

This causes the the Water in the pool to drain, revealing a passageway. Traveling down the passageway and up a flight of stairs leads Link to the Monk's Pedestal on the other side of the large grate wall. When Link approaches Daka Tuss, the Monk gives him a Spirit Orb as a reward for overcoming the Trial.[3] Afterwards, Daka Tuss will wish Link well before fading away.[4]

When the Water in the second room is drained, the Water in the first room is also drained. Under the first pool, a passageway is revealed that leads to a Treasure Chest containing a Silver Longsword.
