Sheerow

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia

Sheerow is Ravio's companion in A Link Between Worlds.[2] It is an intelligent bird-like creature that is incapable of speech, but is able to communicate via body language.

Biography

Sheerow became Ravio's companion at some point prior to meeting Link. When Link meets them, Ravio requests that they live within the young hero's home. After Link allows the duo to stay within his house, Ravio sets up a shop inside the domicile to rent various items. After Link rents items from Ravio's Shop, Ravio explains that should the young hero die, Sheerow will retrieve them and he will have to rent them once more from the shop.[3]

After Link rescues Osfala, Sheerow flies to Thieves' Town to retrieve the Sand Rod and returns it to Ravio's Shop, where Link may rent or purchase it. Sheerow returns to Lorule with Ravio after the final battle, and is there to witness the restoration of the kingdom's Triforce.

Sheerow possesses the ability to travel between worlds, as it can fly throughout Hyrule and Lorule with apparent ease.

Nomenclature

Sheerow's name in nearly every localization of the game are variations of the Japanese word 白 (Shiro), meaning "white." Its English name is phonetically the same as Shiro, but may also be a corruption of Sparrow, a type of bird.
