The Sludge Like is a Boss in Tears of the Kingdom.[3]

Characteristics

Sludge Likes are Like Likes coated in a thick layer of Sludge, with only their fangs and the insides of their mouths visible through it.[4][5] Their hides are a light shade of grey, and the areas around their jaws are a vibrant magenta with white flecks. They have two rows of fangs. Unlike their weaker cousins, they are capable of movement, giving them a fearsome reputation.[5] They ooze a protective coating of Sludge, which they use to allow them to move through areas avoided by typical Like Likes.[5] This coating can be dispelled with Sidon's Power of Water, Hydrants and Water-based Weapons, Shields, Arrows and Materials.

Sludge Likes spew Sludge from their mouths in order to capture their prey, creating pools of it on the ground that impede movement.[5] Like other Like Likes, their hides are too tough to damage even after their Sludge coating is dispelled, but their bulbous, purple tongues are extremely sensitive.[6] However, Sludge Like tongues are also covered in a protective coating of Sludge, protecting them from damage unless the Sludge coating them has been dispelled. They intermittently reveal their tongues, allowing them to be attacked if their protective coating has been dispelled. Once their tongues are struck, they sprawl down on the ground, unable to attack for several seconds.[how many?] After being stunned, they dig into the ground, reemerging nearby shortly after with a new protective layer of Sludge and firing a barrage of the substance into the air.

One Sludge Like was summoned by a Phantom Ganon in the form of Zelda to attack King Dorephan of the Zora.[7][4] During the "Sidon of the Zora" Main Quest, the Sludge Like that the Phantom Ganon summoned arrives in Mipha Court to attack Link and Prince Sidon. Sidon advises Link to use his Power of Water to clear the Sludge protecting the Like Like.[8]

Once defeated, Sludge Likes spew out a few last bursts of Sludge before retracting their necks into their bodies and turning black, bubbles covering their bodies before they explode into dark smoke, leaving behind an Iron Treasure Chest.
