In A Link to the Past, Squirrels appear frolicking near the Pedestal of Time in the Lost Woods. In the Game Boy Advance version of the game, Link must catch a Squirrel as a part of the Lumberjack's Riddles.[2]

Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, Squirrels appear in the Ordona Province. Once Link returns to Ordon Village in his Wolf form, one Squirrel tells him to talk with other animals to gather information.[3]

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, Squirrels reside in the Lost Woods, near the Pedestal of Time. They run away when Link moves close to them. In the ending, Squirrels are seen gathering around Gulley in the Haunted Grove.

Breath of the Wild

In Breath of the Wild, Bushy-Tailed Squirrels can be found in wooded areas. They can be hunted down by using the Bow. When defeated, they drop a single Acorn.[4]

Non-Canon Appearances

Oracle of Ages (Himekawa)

In the Oracle of Ages manga by Akira Himekawa, Link and Impa enter a forest in search of the Oracle of Ages, Nayru. They are stopped by the forest animals, including a Squirrel, that them to go back.[5] The animals let the two pass after realizing Link is a Hylian of the old blood.[6] A Squirrel listens to Nayru sing and as she speaks with Impa and Link. When it is learned that Impa is possessed by Veran, the Squirrel and other animals charge her. The charge does nothing against Veran and she possesses the oracle. After Veran uses Nayru to travel to Labrynna's past, the Squirrel watches as Link picks up the Harp of Ages and talks to Ralph.
