"A Gift for the Great Fairy" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]
Overview
Link can obtain this Side Quest by speaking to Toren at the Tabantha Bridge Stable. He will be speaking to himself about a Great Fairy,[2] though he excuses himself when he notices Link.[3] He asks Link if he has heard of the Great Fairy from the old stories,[4] admitting that he believes her to be real and is searching for her.[5] Toren points out the Tabantha Tower beyond the Tabantha Great Bridge, sharing a rumor that if one is on top of it during the afternoon, its shadow will point towards Kaysa's Great Fairy Fountain.[6]
Once he heard of this legend, Toren went to investigate himself, but he has become stuck at the Tabantha Bridge Stable because he knows he can not climb the Tabantha Tower.[7] He even saved up for an offering for the Great Fairy.[8] However, because Link appears to be strong, Toren asks him to make the offering for him.[9] If Link accepts, Toren gives him 500 Rupees, which are the entirety of his life savings.[10]
Once Link has given an offering to the Great Fairy Kaysa, he can return to Toren at the Tabantha Bridge Stable. He asks if Link gave the Great Fairy an offering,[11] and he is grateful to hear that he has.[12] Though he is jealous that Link met Kaysa, but he realizes that he technically made his offering.[13]
Toren tells Link that he can not thank him enough.[14] However, when Link hints at a reward,[15] Toren is confused, as he got to see the Great Fairy because of him.[16] He wonders aloud why the Great Fairy will not appear before him, even in his dreams.[17] This complete the Side Quest.
