"A Wife Washed Away" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

After appeasing Divine Beast Vah Ruta, Link can find Fronk speaking to himself.[2] Link interrupts his thoughts, which causes Fronk to apologize.[3] When Link asks him what is wrong, Fronk reveals that his wife Mei went out fishing after Vah Ruta's rampage started,[4] but even after everything has settled, she has not returned.[5] Fronk fears the worst and laments not stopping Mei.[6] Link can offer to go find Mei, Fronk is grateful and asks him to bring her home.[7] This begins the Side Quest.

Link can ask Fronk where he thinks Mei could be, who then reveals she went fishing in Zora River.[8] Due to the river swelling, she may have been swept downstream.[9] Since Ledo and the others did not see her when they went searching for a Hylian, Fronk believes she may be beyond the river.[10] In the worst case scenario, Mei could be in Lake Hylia.[11]

On one of the small islets surrounding Hylia Island within Lake Hylia, Link will find Mei. She will either be swimming in the water or walking around on land, singing about her catch to herself.[12] If he speaks to her, she will remark that she has caught many fish that day.[13] Link asks her if she knows Fronk, which causes her to realize she forgot to return home.[14] In her rush to return to Zora's Domain, she gives Link her catch, which is five Staminoka Basses.[15] Once Link has them, she returns to her home.[16] This completes the Side Quest.
