Bana Bana
Bana Bana is the Boss of the Deku Temple in Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.[1]
Characteristics
Bana Bana is a large, three-headed carnivorous plant responsible for contaminating the Life Dew found within the Deku Tree, who is dying due to an infestation of Monsters. Each head, colored red, yellow and blue, have three petals with eyeballs and mouths with sharp teeth, with each head connected to a large base with a hole in its center.
Upon Tingle entering the big Chest in Deku Temple, Bana Bana emerges to challenge him and his Bodyguard. Like the smaller, individual heads that appear earlier as the temple's minibosses, each head attacks by spitting seeds that emit exploding, mushroom-like poisons, though Bana Bana will also shoot spiked balls and spawn a cycloptic, coiled, vine-like Monster that will launch Tingle towards the boss.
Defeating Bana Bana utilizes a similar strategy as the Banas: force-feeding each head their matching colors of poison. However, as Bana Bana rests on an elevated platform, Tingle cannot throw the poisons; instead, he must exploit the launching ability of the vine creatures Bana Bana spawns to render himself airborne and fall to the head he wants to attack. If Tingle lands into the mouth of a head with the correct color of poison, it will take damage, indicated by its face increasingly swelling with each time it has eaten its own poison. This process must be done three times with each head, with the heads being completely disabled from attacking upon their third hit.
Upon defeat, Bana Bana's heads explode, dropping 9000 Rupees, rewarding Tingle with the Leaf Rupee, and purifying the Life Dew needed to save the Heir of the Deku Tree.
Trivia
- "Saria's Song", which also plays as part of the Deku Temple music, is remixed into the music when fighting Bana Bana.
