Not to be confused with the Moblin, a distinct boar-like Blin.[note 1]

Boarblins,(LANSLink's Awakening (Nintendo Switch) | EoWEchoes of Wisdom)[1][2] also known as Pig Warriors,(LALink's Awakening | OoSOracle of Seasons | OoAOracle of Ages)[3] are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.

Characteristics

Link's Awakening

Boarblins are relatives to Moblins in Link's Awakening.[4] They live primarily in Tal Tal Heights and Ukuku Prairie. They behave identically to Moblins. One variant of them holds a Sword and Shield, whilst the other acts like Spear Moblins.

In Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch, Boarblins have a Pig-like appearance. Moblins also resemble Pigs, but Boarblins differ in their pink skin, ears, and pupil-less eyes.

Oracle of Seasons

Pig Warriors are porcine Enemies that appear in blue and red variants. A Sword-wielding variant can also be found. The Great Moblin is the leader of a gang of Pig Warriors that operate out of Moblin's Keep, where the Great Moblin is fought. After his defeat, the Pig Warriors are driven away to the other land in a Linked Game. After their defeat in Labrynna, they can be found in the Sunken City, forced to make and sell Bombs.[5][6]

In a Linked Game, a friendly Pig Warrior will give Link the Tokay Linking Secret.[7][8]

Oracle of Ages

Pig Warriors appear in blue and red variants. A Sword-wielding variant can also be found. The Great Moblin is the boss of a gang of Pig Warriors that operate out of Moblin's Keep, where the Great Moblin is fought. After his defeat, the Pig Warriors are driven away to the other land in a Linked Game.

Echoes of Wisdom

Boarblins are porcine Enemies that have two varieties: Boomerang-wielding Boomerang Boarblins, and Club-wielding Club Boarblins. Both varieties have a more powerful Lv. 2 variant.

Other Appearances

Link's Awakening (Cagiva)

The following section is not part of the Zelda canon and should not be taken as such.

In the Link's Awakening manga by Ataru Cagiva, a Boarblin is seen about to execute Tarin for his crimes against Owablin only for Link to save him by defeating the foe using his "Link Dynamite Kick".

Later a Boarblin swordsman, Karuna, duels Link at Ukuku Prairie.

Nomenclature

In Japan, Boarblins are named ブタブリン (Butaburin). 豚 (Buta) is the Japanese word for "pig".

Notes

  1. Pig Warriors are conflated with Moblins in the "Monsters & Demons" section of Encyclopedia,[12] in the Nintendo Power and Versus Books guides for Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages,[13][14][15][citation needed] and in the Oracle of Ages book by Craig Wessel.[citation needed] In the Japanese version of Oracle of Ages, a Goron refers to the Great Moblin as a ブタブリン (Butaburin), the Japanese name for Pig Warriors and Boarblins.[citation needed] In the English version, the Goron simply calls the Great Moblin a "big pig".[citation needed]
