Biography

Twilight Princess

Colin is a timid young boy who lives in Ordon Village. He is the son of Rusl and Uli.^[3]^[4] He looks up to both Link and Ilia.^[5]^[6] Colin is often taunted and teased by Malo and Talo, two other children of Ordon Village.^[7] He gradually becomes braver and more confident as the story progresses.^[8] Colin made Link's Fishing Rod early in the game.^[4]

Colin is kidnapped along with Ilia when the Ordona Province comes under attack by King Bulblin and his Bulblins. Link later finds him in the care of Renado in Kakariko Village along with the other children. Shortly after Link gets Epona back, the village is attacked by King Bulblin. Colin proves his bravery by pushing Beth out of the way of the rampaging monster but is captured in the process. Link rescues Colin, who appears to be sorely wounded. Colin recovers under the care of Beth and Luda. Because of his bravery, Colin earns the respect of the other children of Ordon Village.^[9]

During the ending credits, Colin appears in Hyrule Field with the other children carrying a Sword and Shield, symbolizing his hard-earned courage.

Colin is created by cinema scene director Mitsuhiro Takano.^[10]

Nomenclature

Colin is an Anglicized variation of the Scottish name Cailean.^[11] It also has origins as a shortening of Nicholas.^[12]

Colin's Japanese name コリン (Korin) can be interpreted as consisting of 小 (ko-), the prefix used in words for small beings,^[13] followed by the first two morae in Link's name in kana, リンク (Rinku).

The Japanese names of Colin's family, ウリー (Urī), モイ (Moi), and コリン (Korin) may be taken from ウィーリモコンWī Rimokon (Wii Remote); the combination of their names makes an anagram. Nintendo Dream states the factuality of the speculation "could be not a rumor".^[14]
