"Crisis at Hyrule Castle" is a Main Quest in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

Upon hearing Link's story during the "To the Kingdom of Hyrule" Main Quest, Purah determines that the events of the Upheaval must be connected to the mummy he and Zelda encountered Beneath Hyrule Castle.[2] Since Link heard Zelda's voice, Purah believes that she could still be trapped below Hyrule Castle.[3] As a result, she tasks Link with meeting up with Squad One and Squad Two of the Monster-Control Crew led by Hoz at Hyrule Castle, who have been searching for both him and Zelda.[4] Despite the fact that the mummy may be in the area, Purah decides it is important to keep up the Search for Princess Zelda.[5] Afterwards, "To the Kingdom of Hyrule" will end, and "Crisis at Hyrule Castle will begin.

At the First Gatehouse, Link can find Hoz directing his squad members to continue the search.[6] When Link approaches him, Hoz initially tries to dismiss him, claiming to be busy.[7] He is shocked when he realizes it is Link, believing that means Zelda is safe as well.[8] Although Hoz is confused by Link's clarification, he declares that continuing to search for Zelda is more important.[9] He expresses how relieved he is to have Link's help, since they have been overwhelmed by the Gloom surrounding Hyrule Castle.[10][note 1]

The figure resembling Zelda

Suddenly, Toren shouts, claiming to have spotted Zelda.[12] On a ruined wall in the distance, a figure resembling Zelda can be seen staring towards the group. Hoz is happy to see that she is safe.[13] However, she then floats into the air and bursts into Light, much to his confusion.[14] Hoz declares that they are in an emergency situation, wondering why Zelda left without speaking to them.[15] He decides to withdraw the Monster-Control Crew for now, sending Link ahead to inform Purah of what they saw.[16]

When Link returns to Lookout Landing, Purah asks him if he was able to find anything.[17] She and Josha are both shocked to hear about the sighting, noting how he always tells outlandish stories.[18] Due to Zelda flying off, Purah decides that they should focus on investigating the Upheaval itself, since it could lead them to where Zelda went.[19] She then asks to see the Purah Pad, at which point she looks for its Map function.[20] In order to create a Map of Hyrule, they first need to add data from the area surrounding Lookout Landing.[21]

Turning to Josha, Purah asks her the status of the Skyview Towers.[22] After an examination, she determines that the Travel Point is still receiving its final adjustments.[23] Purah decides she will be the one to finish it, apologizing to Link for the delay.[24] Until then, she suggests that he rest in the Emergency Shelter, which has Beds and a Kitchen.[25] She directs him to talk to Scorpis for more information.[26] Purah also tells him to visit Mubs's Armor Shop if he needs Armor.[27] Once Link is ready, she tells him to meet her at the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower.[28] Before ending their conversation, she puts Josha in charge of preparing the switch.[29]

At the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, Link will find Purah finishing her work on the Sheikah Slate Terminal.[30] She asks Link if he is ready and reveals that the Travel Point is almost completed.[31] Purah then calls out to Josha at the Research Lab to pull the switch,[32] which she proceeds to do. This causes all of the Skyview Towers throughout Hyrule to activate, launching flares into the Sky.[33] Next, Purah directs Link to use the Purah Pad on the Sheikah Slate Terminal.[34] Once he does so, the Skyview Tower will be activated on his Map, allowing him to use its Travel Point.[35] Purah reveals that Skyview Towers are capable of creating Maps of their surroundings for the Purah Pad.[36] Due to Link's absence, Purah had no one who would be able to complete the Scan, since it requires a Paraglider.[37] She then gives Link the Paraglider.[38]

For the first Scan, Purah tells Link to stand on the nearby Elevator Platform, and once he is done, he should meet her at the Research Lab to discuss the search for Zelda.[39] When Link steps onto the Platform, mechanical arms will emerge from the ground, outfitting him with a coil of wire that plugs into the Purah Pad. The Elevator Platform will then abruptly shoot upwards, launching Link into the Sky. As he Scans the area, his Maps of the Surface and the Sky will both be updated.[40][41]

Upon Link's return, Purah asks if his Scan was successful in updating his Map.[42] She is relieved that the Purah Pad's Map is functioning, and she tells Link that he should try to get scans from all of the Skyview Towers in Hyrule.[43] Switching topics to the Upheaval, Purah reveals that there have been reports of strange happenings all throughout Hyrule.[44] In particular, she points out troubles in the Regions of Hebra, Eldin, Gerudo, and Lanayru.[45] She believes that they may find clues about Zelda by looking into the Upheaval.[46] Before ending their conversation, Purah reveals that she has recruited the Lucky Clover Gazette to assist in the search, and she suggests that he visit their headquarters.[47] Purah plans to remain in Lookout Landing to coordinate research into the Upheaval and finding leads on Zelda's location.[48] She entrusts the major happenings to Link, hoping that their combined efforts will lead them to Zelda.[49] At this point, "Regional Phenomena" will begin.

After completing "Tulin of Rito Village", "Yunobo of Goron City", "Sidon of the Zora", and "Riju of Gerudo Town", Link must then return to Lookout Landing to inform Purah of his discoveries.[50][51] There, he can find Purah looking through her Telescope toward Hyrule Castle. She informs Link that she has something to tell him, but she is interrupted by the sudden emergence of a Blood Moon.[52] When she looks through her Telescope again, she is shocked and tells Link to do the same.[53] Once he does so, Link will once again see the figure resembling Zelda in front of the Sanctum, though she disappears in a cloud of Gloom.

When the Blood Moon ends, Purah reveals that she was searching for signs of Zelda at Hyrule Castle, and she believes that she may have been inside the entire time.[54] Since Link is the only one who can reach the Castle, Purah sends him after the figure.[55] She apologizes for sending him into a dangerous situation, though she asks that both he and Zelda return safely.[56]

When Link arrives at the floating portion of Hyrule Castle, he will find that it is being subjected to a constant Thunderstorm. He then hears the voice of Zelda saying that she is waiting for him.[57] Link must then follow a series of Markers, which lead him to ambushes by Monster Forces using the figure as bait. The Markers denote the following locations:

A screenshot of a Phantom Ganon inside the Throne Room. Text on-screen displays its name with the title "The Demon King's Phantom Saboteaur".
Phantom Ganon's introduction

After defeating all of the Monster Forces, Link will once again hear Zelda's voice.[58] Inside the Sanctum's Throne Room, the figure disappears again, this time appearing in front of the thrones. She expresses her relief that Link has finally arrived, revealing that she has something to show him.[59] Using her powers, she then restores the Throne Room to pristine condition. She then asks Link his opinion, teleporting around the room as she does so.[60] She encourages him to take everything in, as it will be the last thing he ever sees.[61] An image of Demon King Ganondorf appears above the figure, wondering how Link was able to survive his Gloom.[62] He blames the Right Arm, reiterating the threat that he will soon perish.[63] Demon King Ganondorf reveals that the figure was a puppet Phantom Ganon meant to distract Link, and he now directs it to attack Link outright.[64]

Once all of the Phantom Ganons have been defeated, Demon King Ganondorf admits to underestimating Link before unleashing a Gloom attack.[65] However, it is blocked by Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, and Tulin.[66] The image of Demon King Ganondorf returns, recognizing the Secret Stones carried by the Sages.[67] Upon hearing Sidon's confusion, Demon King Ganondorf claims there are limits to the knowledge granted by Secret Stones.[68] He introduces himself, claiming that their ancestors were only able to delay his rise to power.[69] He then shows them a glimpse of his time as the Demon King, which triggers "The Demon King's Army" Memory.[70] Following the Memory, Link and the Sages appear disoriented, but they quickly right themselves as Demon King Ganondorf continues to speak. He declares that he will soon take over Hyrule, before laughing as he disappears.[71]

The Sages sheath their Weapons, and Tulin asks if that was truly the Demon King.[72] Sidon states how dangerous his return is, which causes Yunobo to panic.[73] However, Riju reasons that they still have time until he returns to his full strength, since he chose to leave instead of continuing to fight them.[74] She tells the other Sages to regroup at Lookout Landing, asking Link to join them.[75] After they leave, a Heart Container appears for Link.

Back at Lookout Landing, Link can find the Sages gathered outside the Research Lab. When Link approaches Purah, she greets him and asks what he found.[76] After Purah hears Link and the Sages' story, Tulin points out how all of the strange occurences throughout Hyrule happened because of Demon King Ganondorf.[77] Yunobo then states that Zelda is in the distant past, and Sidon adds that she was part of the effort to defeat the Demon King.[78] Riju reveals that their ancestors made vows to Zelda that new Sages would awaken to fight him.[79]Tulin laments that they are unable to ask Zelda what her plan is, and she will not be being beside them.[80] In addition to this, Yunobo emphasizes how little they know about Demon King Ganondorf.[81]

Purah is able to discern that Zelda was preparing for Demon King Ganondorf's revival in the present, and she believes they are still missing a hint that she left for them.[82] Through their conversations, Purah and the Sages realize that excluding Zelda, there is one Sage from the Imprisoning War who is still unaccounted for.[83] Since the other Sages awakened at ancient ruins, Purah believes that the fifth could be at a similar location.[84] Riju decides that they should focus on investigating ruins from the same era in their respective Regions.[85] Purah agrees with her, telling Link to search for any other leads.[86] Once they leave, the "Find the Fifth Sage" Main Quest will begin.[note 2]

After Link completes "Guidance from Ages Past" and reawakens Mineru as the Sage of Spirit, he is once again tasked with reporting to Purah.[91] She is initially surprised to hear of Link's achievements and happy that they have now gathered all five Sages.[92] Additionally, she is relieved that Zelda in the past wanted to restore the Master Sword to return to Link, and she suggests that he visit the Great Deku Tree in Korok Forest for help finding it.[93][note 3] At this point, both "Crisis at Hyrule Castle" and "Find the Fifth Sage" will be completed.[note 4]

Objectives

Stage Description
1 Hyrule Castle rose into the air at the start of the Upheaval, which tore apart the earth underneath it.

Purah believes Princess Zelda may have called out to you from deep in the earth. Join the search for the princess below Hyrule Castle.
2 When you joined the search party, you found Princess Zelda—but she transformed into light and disappeared.

Return to Lookout Landing, and report this to Purah and the others.
3 After you told Purah that Princess Zelda vanished into light at Hyrule Castle, she asked you to redirect your search into the regions of Hyrule, where the Upheaval is also wreaking havoc. Purahs wants to mark those spots on your map, but you'll first need some map data.

Meet Purah at the Skyview Tower to begin this process.
4 After you told Purah that Princess Zelda vanished into light at Hyrule Castle, she asked you to redirect your search into the regions of Hyrule, where the Upheaval is also wreaking havoc. Purahs wants to mark those spots on your map, but you'll first need some map data.
Hold the Purah Pad near the Skyview Tower's terminal to do this.
5 After you told Purah that Princess Zelda vanished into light at Hyrule Castle, she asked you to redirect your search into the regions of Hyrule, where the Upheaval is also wreaking havoc. Purahs wants to mark those spots on your map, but you'll first need some map data.

Use the Skyview Tower to scan for this data.
6 You've discovered that a Skyview Tower will launch you high into the sky, where you also scan the nearby terrain from the air. The map data is added to your Purah Pad.

Purah wants to give you some potential destinations to investigate. Report back to her at the research lab in Lookout Landing.
7 Where Princess Zelda is remains a mystery. Purah said you might learn more by looking into the major phenomena that are troubling some regions. She's marked them on your map.

Hyrule Castle remains strangely in the sky, though you saw someone who looked like the princess leave it, vanishing into light.
8 Princess Zelda suddenly appeared at the floating Hyrule Castle alongside a red moon.

Much is still unclear, but you should go to Hyrule Castle to check things out.
9 You infiltrated Hyrule Castle and finally arrived at Princess Zelda's location.

But the princess was an impostor—a duplicate created by the mummy. The impostor further warped its appearance and began attacking.
10 Princess Zelda, who appeared at Hyrule Castle, turned out to be an impostor created by Demon King Ganondorf.

The Demon King isn't yet fully regenerated, so there may still be time. Return to Lookout Landing and talk to Purah.
11 You told Purah about the impostor princess and how Demon King Ganondorf is trying to rise again.

Hyrule Castle remains a devastated place and continues to float above the ground.
Complete The phenomena at Hyrule Castle and the Upheaval were all due to Demon King Ganondorf, who is trying to destroy the world.

Combine your powers with the five sages and slay the Demon King.

Notes

  1. If Link already met Hoz before starting "Crisis at Hyrule Castle", he asks if he met with Purah already, and he is relieved to have his help.[11]
  2. If Link has already completed the Spirit Temple before initiating this conversation, Purah and the Sages will be shocked to hear he has already found Mineru.[87] She and Yunobo will also be surprised if he already has the Master Sword, though Riju congratulates him.[88] Riju, Tulin, and Sidon are all saddened by Zelda's fate.[89] Purah claims that the Sages will join Link to face Demon King Ganondorf when he is ready, and she sends them back to their homes to prepare.[90]
  3. If Link has already completed "Recovering the Hero's Sword" and obtained the Master Sword, Purah thanks him for doing so, claiming that he does not look the same without it.[94] She believes that he is ready to face Demon King Ganondorf.[95]
  4. If Link already has the Master Sword, the "Destroy Ganondorf" Main Quest will immediately begin.

  4. That settles it. I know you only just returned, Link... But I need you to meet with the search party up by Hyrule Castle. They've been searching tirelessly for you two. 5. I know that mummy may still be lurking somewhere around there. Which is concerning, to say the least, but we have more immediate problems to deal with right now. I'm counting on you, Linky! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)

  7. Sorry, but I'm in the middle of something. — Hoz (Tears of the Kingdom)

  9. Hang on—you're alone? But you heard the princess calling out to you, and you're here to help with the search? I...see. Er, maybe I don't. I'm a little confused, but that doesn't matter right now. What matters is continuing our search for Princess Zelda. — Hoz (Tears of the Kingdom)

  11. Link! Did you meet with Purah? That's great. Knowing you'll be helping in the search comes as an incredible relief. We needed some good news. Our work here carries on, but the sheer amount of gloom is overwhelming. It's made this particularly challenging. — Hoz (Tears of the Kingdom)

  15. How strange... This... This is an emergency situation! Why would she leave without saying a word to us... — Hoz (Tears of the Kingdom)
  16. We need to let Purah know about this as soon as possible! Considering what we just witnessed, I think it makes sense for us to withdraw, but it will take a bit. Please, you must tell Purah about what happened here as soon as possible. — Hoz (Tears of the Kingdom)
  17. Link! Well? Did you find anything? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  18. You're telling me Princess Zelda was at the castle, and then she transformed into LIGHT and flew off? I've gotta say. Your stories are always so wild. But if you're telling me that'd what you saw, then I've got to believe it. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  19. Sounds like we need to change our approach. Since the princess flew off, maybe we should redirect our efforts and dig into the Upheaval. For now, at least. I've already got a few regions in mind to start exploring. I bet we'll pick up clues about where she flew off to as we look around. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  20. Oh yeah! You've still got the Purah Pad, right? Can I see it for a sec? It's a little worse for wear but...seems to be functioning fine. Map, map, map... Aha. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  21. Oh, right. I forgot that before we can look at your overall map of Hyrule... we need to add map data from right around Lookout Landing. And for THAT, we need our Skyview Tower. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  22. Josha, what's the status of the Skyview Tower right now? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  23. Let me see... Outwardly, the structure looks to be complete. Oh! But the travel point is still undergoing final adjustments! — Josha (Tears of the Kingdom)
  24. The travel point needs tweaking... Sounds like I better get cracking. Sorry about this, Linky. I'll fix it up quick, so just hang tight. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  25. In the meantime, why don't you rest up? You must be pretty tired. The emergency shelter is just the spot for you. It has free beds and a kitchen, so it's well stocked for getting some rest and rejuvenating yourself. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  26. If you want more info... talk to the soldier who's watching over everything from the center—right where the emergency shelter entrance is. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  27. If you need clothing for your travels... you should go to Mubs's shop. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  28. I'll be over by our Skyview Tower, so when you're ready to head out, just let me know. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  29. All right, Josha, let's work on our final preparations for the tower. I'll handle the travel point. Josha, you're in charge of the switch! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
OK, Doc! You can count on me! — Josha (Tears of the Kingdom)
  30. If I put this here, then that goes there... No, no, that's not quite it. That should do it. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  31. Hey, Link, You all set? I just wrapped up here myself. The travel point is working fine now. Or it will be, once you do your part... — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  32. We're ready, Josha! Pull the switch! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  33. All of the Skyview Towers have now been activated! — Josha (Tears of the Kingdom)
  34. OK, Link! Your turn! Go hold the Purah Pad over that terminal. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  35. All right! The Skyview Tower is now active on your map. That means you can now use this travel point to get here at any time, instantly. The same is true for every Skyview Tower you add to your Purah Pad. Impressive, right? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  36. But Skyview Towers are about more than just traveling quickly. Their primary function is to survey the area. Or more simply put, to make a map! The Purah Pad works with the Skyview Tower and scans the topography directly on to the map. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  37. Pretty great, hm? Only thing is, you need a paraglider when you're scanning. It takes a lot of skill. And nobody here had what it takes. To be honest, that's why we haven't tested this out yet—we needed you. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  38. Which brings us...to this! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  39. Right. It's showtime. Let's start with a test scan. Now, it's time for our very first test launch— I mean... Our first test. Just step over there, into the circle. And find me afterward, all right? I'll be observing from the research lab. When the test scan is over, we'll have a final briefing on the search for Princess Zelda. And I'll also need to update your map with the places where the Upheaval has wreaked the most havoc. Best of luck! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  40. Surface map updated. — Purah Pad (Tears of the Kingdom)
  41. Sky map updated. — Purah Pad (Tears of the Kingdom)
  42. Welcome back! That was some good gliding up there, Link. I expected nothing less. So, how did it go? Did you get a proper map scan? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  43. Good. That map is crucial to our search. There are Skyview Towers in every region in the world. You'll want to make a point of visiting them all. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  44. Right! Let's talk about the Upheaval. It's affected more than just the castle. Reports of other strange phenomena have been coming in from all over Hyrule. Let's take a look at your map. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  45. The first report comes from Hebra to the northwest. Next up is Eldin to the northeast. The Gerudo are reporting trouble in the southwest. And finally, there's Lanayru to the east. The strange phenomena are concentrated in these four regions. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  46. I can't say for certain, but... I've got a nagging suspicion that we might find out more about Princess Zelda by looking into these phenomena. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  47. Oh, and before I forget, Link. We've asked the Lucky Clover Gazette to help us in the search for Princess Zelda. There's nobody who knows more about the goings-on in Hyrule than them. You can find them near the entrance to Rito Village. If you do go there, you should speak with the editor. I'm sure she could help out in some way too. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  48. I'll be here, directing a variety of investigations into the Upheaval's many chasms and new ruins. I'll also be looking into the different villages. Someone, somewhere, might know what's happened to the princess. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  49. I'm counting on you to check out the major phenomena that are troubling regions around Hyrule, Link. We'll find Princess Zelda, one way or another! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  50. That reminds me... Link, as I understand it, you have already visited Rito Village, Goron City, and Gerudo Town. I am certain that our allies at Lookout Landing would benefit from the information you have gathered. It may be worthwhile to return there and report your findings. — Dorephan (Tears of the Kingdom)
  51. Link... You said you had already visited Rito Village, Goron City, and Zora's Domain... I'm sure Lookout Landing would value any information you could share. Why not go there and see if you can help? — Buliara (Tears of the Kingdom)
  52. So...the person resembling Princess Zelda was behind the scenes for all of the phenomena, as you discovered. That HAS to be related to the Upheaval somehow. And I have something important to share as well. Hm? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  53. Ah! Isn't that— Link! Look at this! Quickly — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  54. Linky! Did you SEE that?! I was going to share that I saw a figure that looked an awful lot like Princess Zelda at Hyrule Castle! I wasn't sure at first, but now I am. I thought she'd left the castle entirely, but she was inside! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  55. We have to hurry and rescue her! The soldiers and I can't reach Hyrule Castle as it is now. You might be the only one who can do it. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  56. Ugh, I'm sorry, Link. I know I'm always throwing you into dangerous situations. But you really are the only one up to the task. Please, come back in one piece. That applies to both you and the princess. Got it? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  57. Link... Link... Come to me... I am waiting... Waiting for you... — Phantom Ganon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  58. Link... I am waiting... Waiting... Waiting for you... — Phantom Ganon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  59. At last... I have been waiting for you to arrive. Now, Link... There is something here I want to show you. — Phantom Ganon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  60. What do you think? Hyrule Castle. Perfect and glorious. Does it awaken memories? Memories of our time here? — Phantom Ganon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  61. Well, really take in every detail... After all, this place... will be the last thing you ever see. — Phantom Ganon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  62. The fabled swordsman who endured my corruption... Who has persisted in slaughtering my servants... Interesting... How is it that you survived my attack? — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  63. It must have been that wretched arm. No matter. You will not live to see another sunrise. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  64. Did my puppet entertain you? She made it so easy to mislead you—to keep you occupied... But such an indirect approach is no longer needed. End this hero's life, my dark servant. Cut him down. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  65. It seems there is more to you than the power Rauru has gifted. But not much more. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  66. Link! We are here! — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  67. Hm. Those who carry the secret stones... — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  68. Just what is this thing?! — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
You do not recognize me... Perhaps there are limits to the knowledge the secret stones impart. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  69. You stand before Ganondorf. The foolish actions of your ancestors served only to delay my ascension. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  70. Allow me to show you... Show you the world that was and will be again when I have been restored. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  71. You see... You cannot hope to escape your fate. My power will sweep across this land. You need but await the inevitable end. — Demon King Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
  72. Was that the Demon King we were warned about? It all really happened?! — Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)
  73. This is dire. The Demon King...the man who nearly destroyed the world. Ganondorf! With his return, everyone's in danger. — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
Oh, this isn't good! If that really was him... Oh, we're in real trouble! — Yunobo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  74. Hold on... He must not be at his full strength. Otherwise, why flee instead of finishing us off? — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
  75. We should return to Lookout Landing and decide what to do next. Link, you should come too. — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
  76. Welcome back. Looks like it was pretty tough. So how did it go? — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  77. I seeee. So, to summarize... There's no mistaking that what you all saw at Hyrule Castle was the Demon King from the legend of the Imprisoning War. And the princess you've been seeing was actually an impostor! And the reason she appeared at Hyrule Castle was so the Demon King could lure Link into a trap... — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
I knew something seemed weird! I mean, about Princess Zelda not doing anything to help with these troubles everywhere in Hyrule. But it's all connected—the Upheaval, the problems our homelands have been facing, the fake princess. It's all happening because the Demon King came back! — Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)
  78. So, then, that means that Princess Zelda isn't actually here? Instead, she's in the distant past and not in the present... Right? — Yunobo (Tears of the Kingdom)
Yes, we should consider that to be the case, bizarre as it sounds. It also seems that Princess Zelda was trying to somehow defeat the Demon King in the past... — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  79. Our ancestors made a vow to Zelda... They swore that when the Demon King was revived, their descendants would awaken as sages and fight alongside Link. — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
  80. But with Princess Zelda in the past, we can't ask her what the plan is supposed to be. And she can't be here to fight with us either... — Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)
  81. We also don't know anything about the Demon King other than the fact that he's bad news and super strong. What do we do... — Yunobo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  82. Hmm. Based on what you each have told me... It appears the princess was making preparations in anticipation of the Demon King's revival in this era. There must be some hint we still haven't figured out here in our time. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  83. Oh! Wait... You said that six sages were with King Rauru when he fought against the Demon King during the Imprisoning War, right? Wind... Fire... Water... Lightning... And time... That was the princess. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
Oooh! — Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)
I see! — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
What is it? What do you see? — Yunobo (Tears of the Kingdom)
That's it! There was one more sage back then! — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  84. Exactly! One more sage that might be here now! I'm sure this is the lead we were hoping for. It will be well worth our while to search! Each of you awakened as sages at ruins from the age of legends, right? Maybe the remaining sage is in a similar location. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  85. That makes sense. So we should search major ruins from the age of legends... They're as good a place as any to start. If we just searched all of Hyrule randomly, we'd probably never find the sage. — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
  86. All right! We have a plan. Let's split up the work and get to it! You four go back to your homelands and gather information about ruins that might be related to the remaining sage. Linky, search around and see if you can find any other undiscovered leads! Everyone's relying on you! Don't let us down! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  87. What? You already found her? Mineru? The Sage of Spirit! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  88. AND you have the Master Sword already? Why didn't you mention that sooner! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
Didn't you say the Master Sword disappeared? — Yunobo (Tears of the Kingdom)
Heh, I don't know what else to say except well done! — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
  89. It is amazing that even trapped in the past like she was, Zelda still had a plan. Everything she did was to heal and strengthen the Master Sword, which will be critical to defeating the Demon King. — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
So Princess Zelda was in the distant past all alone, doing everything she could to help us. — Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)
I cannot fathom the sheer strength of will that must have required... — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  90. ... It's a heavy burden that you've taken on, Link...to finish what Princess Zelda started. Now, after everything she's done, the rest is up to us. With everything in order, all that's left to do now is defeat the Demon King! Link, whenever you want to face this is up to you. You're critical in all of this, so when you're ready, we will be too. Everyone, hurry back to your homes and prepare for the final battle. I'll sound the alarms once Link is ready. Princess Zelda entrusted her hope to us. Together, we will see this through. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  91. After meeting the owner of the mysterious voice—the Sage of Spirit, Mineru—you learned about the Imprisoning War against the Demon King in the distant past and Princess Zelda's determination to restore the Master Sword.

You now have all the clues you need. Report to Purah at Lookout Landing.
    — Adventure Log (Tears of the Kingdom)
  92. You found the Sage of Spirit?! M-Mineru? This... Is... Incredible! That means we have the five sages! Fantastic work, Link! I can't believe this is actually one of the sages who faced off against the Demon King alongside Princess Zelda... — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  93. And now we have news about the princess. There's some relief in that, at least. So... In the ancient past, Princess Zelda worked to restore the decayed Master Sword and return it to your hand. Trusting that you would defeat the Demon King in the present day. She did so much on her own... ... The restored Master Sword is somewhere in this era. I'm sure of it. To start, you should probably talk to the Deku Tree about it, as Mineru advised. The Deku Tree is in the center of Great Hyrule Forest to the north of here. Princess Zelda left us with her final wish. It's up to us now. Talk to the Deku Tree—he may have a lead. You have to find the Master Sword! — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  94. The Master Sword was restored, you say? When were you planning on telling me?! And it was found on the head of a white dragon, of all places? That's...hard to believe... However... This was Princess Zelda's wish. One she believed in so strongly that she gave her life to see it through. For us... Thank you for finding the sword, Link. I have to say. You really don't look quite like yourself unless you've got the Master Sword at your side. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  95. Now then, it seems you have all you need. You're prepared to face our enemy. — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
