Curse
- This article is about the status condition. For the curses bestowed by Vaati in The Minish Cap, see Sorcerer's Curse.
Curses,[1] also known as Jinxes,[name references needed] is a status effect that Link suffers from in many games after he touches a specific type of Bubble or Fog. Once he touches one, he will not be able to draw his Sword until the effect disappears.
Appearances
The Legend of Zelda
In The Legend of Zelda, if Link touches a normal Bubble he becomes unable to use his sword. If Link comes in contact with a Red Bubble, he cannot wield his Sword until he either touches a Blue Bubble, drinks a Potion, or is healed by a Fairy.
Majora's Mask
In Majora's Mask, Link is afflicted with a Curse when he makes contact with a Blue Bubble, causing him to flash blue (be colored blue in Majora's Mask 3D) and forces him to sheath his Sword, also making him unable to draw it; however, the effect is temporary and will wear off after approximately 50 seconds. Link can also immediately remove the effect of a Curse by playing the Song of Storms, or using a healing item. Fierce Deity Link's Fierce Deity Sword and the Great Fairy's Sword (because it is used on a C Button rather than the B Button) are not affected and can still be used.
Oracle of Seasons
In Oracle of Seasons, equipping a Whisp Ring will prevent the Curse from affecting Link.
Oracle of Ages
In Oracle of Ages, equipping a Whisp Ring will prevent the Curse from affecting Link.
The Wind Waker
In The Wind Waker, Link cannot use his Sword or items if Cursed by a Blue Bubble or by Blue Fog. Purple smoke escapes from his body and he appears tired, but it does not hinder his movement in any way. The effect will wear off after 5 seconds, but can be removed by stepping in light.
The Minish Cap
Link is unable to use his Sword if he touches a Wisp in The Minish Cap. Wisps are found at Veil Falls and in Dark Hyrule Castle.
Skyward Sword
In Skyward Sword, Link cannot use his Sword or items after being hit by a Dark Lizalfos's Cursed breath attack, a Cursed Spume's projectile, a Dark Keese, or falling in Cursed water.
Tri Force Heroes
In Tri Force Heroes, "dark" variants of many of the game's enemies appear in the Den of Trials, which will Curse Link for 3 to 5 seconds upon dealing damage.
