Dampe's Catacomb Race is a Mini-Game in Ocarina of Time.[1][name references needed]

Location and Rules

Dampé challenges Link to a race through ?, the catacombs beneath his grave, when Link returns to the Kakariko Village Graveyard as an adult.[2] When the race begins, Dampé will fly ahead of Link, leading the way through various tunnels, past dead-ends, and around Boulders, while occasionally dropping Flames that can damage the hero and slow him down. In the final stretch of the race, Link must ascend a large, curving staircase which can be skipped by using the Hookshot; however, the item will not be in Link's possession during his first attempt at the race. To win the race, Link does not necessarily need to beat Dampé, but merely make it through the final doorway before Dampé closes it behind him. The first time Link is victorious he will be rewarded with the Hookshot.[3] He may then repeat the Mini-Game for a chance to win a Piece of Heart, should he complete the race in under a minute.
