Decayed Weapons are Items in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Overview
Decayed Weapons are Weapons that have been weakened as a result of the Upheaval.[2] They exhibit reduced durability, lower attack power and general stats compared to their Intact counterparts. Many of the residents of Hyrule have been attaching Monster Parts to the ends of Decayed Weapons so they can continue to use them.[3]
Decay affects most handheld Weapons, including One-Handed Weapons, Two-Handed Weapons, and Spears. A majority of the Weapons encountered on the Surface are decayed. The exceptions to this are Boulder Breakers, Lightscale Tridents, and Scimitars of the Seven, including those used by the Sages. In addition to these, one Intact Eightfold Blade✨ can be found on the Surface. Shields and Bows are not susceptible to decay.

I'm trying to repair the decayed weapons, in the hopes I can help out too. But try as I might, I come up short. It seems all you can do is use the weapons by attaching things to the ends of them.

[What about the weapons?] Hey, it's a new face. During the Upheaval, all the weapons—swords, spears, clayymores, you name it—suddenly decayed. I've explored many regions in search of weapons that might still be intact. I found none. At this point, I'd be surprised if there were any intact weapons left in Hyrule. They're also a real pain to repair, so the best thing to do is strengthen them.

A lot of the weapons decayed after the Upheaval. Most folks don't know what to do about it... But I figured it out! If you combine monster materials and a decayed weapon—boom! Much improved. Great idea, right? Just a little tip from me to you, free of charge.
