Diving Game
The Diving Game is a Minigame in Ocarina of Time.[3]
Location and Rules
The Diving Game is run by a Zora located at the top of the waterfall in Zora's Domain. Completing this Minigame at least once is mandatory, as the prize is the Silver Scale, which will allow Link to reach the Letter in a Bottle. The Diving Game costs 20 Rupees to play,[1] and the Zora operator throws five Blue Rupees over the waterfall and into the basin of Zora's Domain for Link to retrieve.[4] Link must jump from the waterfall and dive under the Water to retrieve the Rupees within 50 seconds. Once the game is completed, Link must return to the Zora operator to claim the Silver Scale.[5][2] He also gets to keep the Rupee collected during the Minigame.
After obtaining the Silver Scale, the Diving Game can be played repeatedly. There will now be a total of ten Rupees of a variety of colors to collect; Blue Rupees appear the most commonly, followed by Green Rupees.[6] There is approximately a 65% chance that at least one Red Rupee (worth 20) will be thrown, a 40% chance of at least one Purple Rupee (worth 50), and slightly less than a 5% chance that a special Gold Rupee worth 500 Rupees, rather than the usual 200, will appear.[7] In order to collect all ten Rupees within the time limit, Link will need to grab more than one at a time during several of his dives. There is no longer a prize for collecting every Rupee.[8]
