EX Champion Revali's Song is a Main Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1] It is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack.

Overview

After finishing the trials on the Great Plateau during the "EX The Champions' Ballad" Main Quest, the One-Hit Obliterator will split into four glowing orbs and scatter to different areas of Hyrule Kingdom, revealing four ancient structures called Monuments. One of the Monuments appears near Strock Lake on Cuho Mountain, south of Divine Beast Vah Medoh. As Link approaches the Monument, a voice belonging to an unspecified Monk speaks to him and instructs him to complete the trials revealed to him.[2] Three maps then appear on the Monument's pillars, each revealing the location of a trial that Link must undergo.

Kass, who is standing nearby, makes a remark on either the Monument or the flash of light, depending on how many Monuments have already been visited.[3][4][5][6] Though he did not initially notice Link,[7] Kass is still happy to see him again.[8] He points out the Monument to Link, explaining that it was mentioned in his teacher's Unfinished Song.[9][note 2] He thinks it is glorious that he is able to sing it in front of a Monument.[13]

Kass adds that there is a verse in the song that mentions the trials that Revali overcame,[14] which he offers to sing it for Link,[15] The lyrics provide instructions for the three trials Link will need to face.[16] When he is finished singing, Kass asks if Link was moved by his performance.[17][18] Learning about the Champions in their homes have helped Kass with completing the song's key verses.[19] He is inspired by the confidence it would take to master a Divine Beast.[20] The Unfinished Song weighs heavily on him, and so Kass has resolved to learn more about the Champions.[21] Teba and Kaneli have been helpful in Kass's search for knowledge,[22] but he still has much work to do on his journey.[23] When he is finished speaking, the Main Quest will begin.

Link may complete the trials in any order. The first trial tasks Link with shooting Dinraal's horn as it flies over Tanagar Canyon, revealing Shira Gomar Shrine on Upland Lindor. The second trial involves Shield Surfing through the Glowing Rings starting near Hebra Peak and leading down to the Pikida Stonegrove. When Link passes through the final Glowing Ring, Kiah Toza Shrine will be unearthed. The third trial has Link shoot four targets in quick succession at the Flight Range, which causes Noe Rajee Shrine to rise up at the bottom of the chasm.

Each of these Ancient Shrines rewards Link with one of Medoh's Emblems upon their completion.[24] The Monk of the Shrine informs Link that collecting all three Emblems will unlock a new trial.[25] They will then tell him how many Emblems he still has to collect.[26][27] After completing all three Ancient Shrines, the third Monk will instruct Link to go to Divine Beast Vah Medoh.[28]

As Link approaches the Divine Beast, he is spoken to again by an unspecified Monk, who gives him a trial in exchange for the three Emblems.[29] The Monk warns Link not to dismiss it as only a world in his mind, as there is a deeper truth.[30] Link is then transported to the Illusory Realm, a realm created by his memories, where he must face a version of Windblight Ganon made from his own fear.[31]

Link's equipment, Armor, and Inventory will be changed to the following:

After defeating the phantasm, Link is transported back and finds Kass nearby. He believes that meeting Link in this location was not a coincidence,[32] as he considers it a perfect place to get lost in thought and write songs.[33] Learning about Revali has inspired Kass to write a song to honor the Rito Champion in his own way.[34] He sings Champion Revali's Song to Link,[35] which allows him to visualize the "Champion Revali's Song" Recovered Memory from 100 years ago.[36]

After the Memory, Kass notes that Revali did not like sharing his feelings with others.[37] He asks Link what he thought of the Song,[38] explaining that writing it has helped him feel closer to his teacher.[39] Kass feels confident that he will be able to finish the key verses of the Unfinished Song.[40] Revali then speaks to Link and expresses his shock that he was able to complete the trials, and by doing so, he will be able to use Revali's Gale more often.[41] The ability is upgraded to Revali's Gale +, which reduces its recharge time to two minutes. As he is, Revali believes that Link could theoretically defeat Calamity Ganon.[42] After this, the Main Quest will be completed.

Notes

  1. Although the Adventure Log description denotes the location as the Strock Lake, the Quest is actually received on Cuho Mountain.
  2. If this is the first Monument that Link has visited, Kass will explain that it was mentioned in an Unfinished Song written by his teacher.[10] At Link's confusion, Kass explains that it is missing its key verses.[11] He is now on a journey to finish the song.[12]
