The East Courtyard is a location in Ocarina of Time.[1] The East Courtyard goes unnamed in Ocarina of Time 3D.

Features and Overview

The East Courtyard is an open-air garden inside the Forest Temple. Initially, it can only be visited by climbing the northeastern wall of Vines in the West Courtyard and crossing through the hallway on the second floor. This hallway leads to a balcony in the East Courtyard. The second floor of the East Courtyard features a second balcony and Vines along the north wall. Hookshot Targets can be found above both balconies.

On the first floor, there is a small stream of Water surrounding a raised piece of land. By playing the "Scarecrow's Song", Link can summon Pierre on the raised ground for use as a Hookshot Target to reach a Door leading to a northeastern hallway. A Well can be found in the south of the Courtyard. By pressing a red Floor Switch on the second balcony, Link can drain the Water from the Well to reveal a tunnel leading to the West Courtyard. Link is able to travel to and from this tunnel via a Ladder located on the inside of the Well.

Along the western wall there is a Door that leads to the Main Room. However, this Door will lock once Link passes through it. In order to return to the East Courtyard through this Door, Link must shoot the Eye Switch above the Door in the Main Room with an Arrow to retract the portcullis.

Due to the mirroring effect, the East Courtyard is paradoxically located on the west side of the Forest Temple in the Ocarina of Time 3D version of the Master Quest mode. In addition to being mirrored, the room is slightly altered and features different puzzles and Enemies. Time Blocks can be seen floating around the sides of the room. Small Time Blocks appear in the western side of the Courtyard while large ones appear in the eastern side. In addition to a Hookshot Target above the entrance, the eastern Time Blocks are used to gain height and reach the balconies on the second floor. However, the red Floor Switch found atop one of the balconies that controls the Water in the Well is no longer present. Instead, there is now a golden Eye Switch inside the Well that lowers the Water in it when activated. The Hookshot Target above the northern balcony is also absent, and it is no longer possible to summon Pierre with the "Scarecrow's Song" here.
