The Eldin Great Skeleton is a giant skeletal landmark in the Eldin Mountains. The skeletal remains are of an extinct Leviathan.[3][4] The remains consist of a flat skull and a ribcage that are partially buried underground. A small Monster Stronghold is located beneath the Skeleton. The Eldin Great Skeleton becomes a point of interest during the "Leviathan Bones" Side Quest, where Link is sent by Akrah and his brothers to take pictures of the three Leviathan skeletal remains around Hyrule. Akrah requests a photo of the Eldin Great Skeleton.[5]

Importance of Fossil Studies
The Eldin Great Skeleton... Geological surveys of Hyrule have largely been at a standstill, but they could be incredibly valuable! Through careful study, we could identify extinction events and their causes... We could see evidence of environmental changes or disasters and possibly prevent them from happening again! And this all ties back to fossils. We simply must put more effort into their study.

The Eldin Great Skeleton now features eye sockets, with one stone eyeball present. The Monster Outpost that was here is no longer present, and more varieties of Creatures can be found here as well. Additionally, Spiny Bones can be found along the ground surrounding the Eldin Great Skeleton. During the Side Quest, "Eldin's Colossal Fossil", the traveler Loone sets up a Tent east of the Eldin Great Skeleton while on a tour to visit the Fossils of Giant Leviathans. However, she is disappointed that the Skeleton's left eye is missing from its socket. This stone eye can be found in a pile of Hard Sediment beneath the skull of the Skeleton. Link can receive a Purple Rupee, valued at 50 Rupees, from Loone by placing it back into its socket.
